Looks like another fed agency is looking for some new duty weapons.

Thanks FB, that was a good read.

While I have two Sigs, and they work fine (but I admit I never shot 100,000 rounds through one but I have done that with a Glock 17) I still wonder about how much abuse the aluminum frame can take, plus changing springs must be a pain.

So I can see why they made the comments in the document that they did.

The S&W M&P series looks mighty good to me as I've handled and shot them. But I've shot the Glocks so long my grip seems to now be in the shape of a Glock's frame!

Maybe one day I'll pick up a M&P subcompact of my own. I do hear they are good guns!

I believe it costs over 60 dollars to make a GLOCK - when everything is running smoothly. But you have to consider with a factory assembly line, any unplanned downtime, whether caused by a parts/material shortage, or a worker showing up late, or someone making a stupid mistake... may cost a lot. So that 60 dollar mark is really just a potential. The price is always higher in reality.

So then there's shipping, warranty work, and lawyers, protecting their patents, etc etc. R&D for the Gen4 GLOCK?!

I think they could realistically sell GLOCKs for $300.00. But they don't need to cuz of something called demand!
no idea about recooping tooling, anything assembly line related, down time or anything else, but i can say with certainty the cost of the materials is $37.xx usd. :what:

Explain to the noob. (me)
denfoote is referring to a during-ban mag that has a follower installed that reduces the magazine capacity to 10 rounds. Affectionately known as "Clinton Mags"

G23/G19 are superb guns. They have a lot going for them. Excellent capacity for the relatively compact form factor. They carry well. They're reliable. They shoot reasonably well. They're simple to operate and to maintain. And they're not very expensive. I'm not surprised at the selection of the G23.

3rd Gen G23 is one of the best handgun choices available if reliability, capacity and firepower are the criteria.
