That's not that great of a price considering the amount.
I can buy 300 round boxes from the local Atwood's for 3 cents more per round.

X2 LOL.
I did a quick search and grabbed the first link that popped up. I remember when 1000 rounds of quality 7.62N was about $100. That was in quantities of 1000; it was less in bigger quantities, It wasn't just buying; it was buying the good "stuff" or Hirt, SA etc. We'd buy it and sell it to FFLs and pawn shops.
OTOH, as always, it always takes money to make money..

My guess is they buy it by the pallet.
From places similar to https://www.bitethebullet.co/25000-rounds-of-223556

The 55 gallon bucket that was on Brownells for awhile was 12,500 rounds for for $3000. $6000 for 2 barrels/25,000 rounds. Not to mention you get 2 barrels for doing whatever. Working at a store I would do that, buy some 150, 300 etc round ammo cans, sorting it out and slap some price labels on.

Back when SSA sold to us little people; show dealers bought 6.8 and sold 20 in a sandwich bag. As you know, there was easy money to be made..

I know a guy who owns a store that doesn't sell firearms. All he sells is reloading equipment, components and optics. Doesn't need a truck and it would be way too small anyway. He has a warehouse full of just about anything you would need, including ammo.
