#1. If you like the Marlin but can't fix it right now, use it as a 2 shot gun. Load one in the tube and chamber it. Then load another one in the tube.

#2. With an AR, the Barnes 55gr TSX (available at Academy) is one heck of a deer bullet. Are you forced to hunt with 10 rounds or less?

#3. Nothing wrong with a 7mm-08.

I would vote for option #1.

Thanks again guys. The gunsmith took pity on me and cleared the jam while I waited. (He advised using it as a two-shooter if I use Leverolution ammo again. His thought is that the tip caught on the cartridge in front of it and jams the gun. The tips on the cartridges was visibly deformed.) For the rest of this season, I'll just use it as a two-shooter.

We got out Tuesday afternoon for a couple of hours. We bumped one deer but light was failing and we couldn't track it far. My 14 year old was salivating for those 15 minutes. :) We're forming a plan for that one. It was the second time we had a bumped a deer (looks to be the same deer) at that spot at that time. On Saturday, we're going to approach from the other direction about an hour earlier and just wait. If we're lucky that deer will show up again and he will get his first deer.
