Mine is PS 82. Essentially PMC ammo. Non corrosive.

I am not a Garandologist, but I see stuff come by.
1980s Korean surplus ammo comes in two varieties. The corrosive primed which is of good quality and gives no trouble as long as you wet clean. The noncorrosive is of poor quality and yours is just one of the problems I have seen attributed to it.

Thanks for helping me verify that.

NO.

The Garand design has a safety bridge inside the receiver, and the firing pin has a hook that contacts the safey bridge and the bridge holds the firing pin to the rear until the bolt rotates to the locked position.

Google "Garand safety bridge"....

If you are doubling, check the firing pin and safety bridge. You can find pictures on the web to see if your parts are worn.

Next, pictures will help diagnose the problem.

When the rifle is in battery, the firing pin is free floating.

Chamber a round, or a round chambered mid clip, and then shuck it, and look at the primer.

There are threads where Korean ammo is studied down to the lot number.
It doesn't matter here, you KNOW what you have doesn't work. Shoot something else.
I've pretty much come to that conclusion. I will shoot what I have left single loaded in the standing off-hand and slow fire prone practice.

I think I will go ahead and change out all the springs while I have to take it all apart anyway.

I would say replace the recoil spring. Mine did some funny things before i replace it. Double feed, stove pipes and FTF's. i started google problems and realized the recoil spring was really short. bought a service pack from gun springs and she worked mint ever since. I do not shoot it alot so i am not sure how often it should be replaced. I am sure someone here will know.

For what it's worth, I've run hundreds, if not thousands of the PS non-corrosive 1970's South Korean M2 with no double tapping issues with either of my Garands, nor any other ammo related issues.

I have not had any issues either, none with any surplus ammo at all. I am almost positive its the recoil spring with out seeing it in person. mine acted like that. fixed the spring and it ran flawless.
