I met my wife when I was 19. She was certainly not an anti, but had never fired a gun before. Naively, I was truly shocked that she had never shot a gun. I only had a 12 gauge and a .308 at the time, so I went and bought a cheap pawn shop .22 and took her shooting for our third date. I just could not believe someone had never shot a gun before. It just had not occurred to me that it might be possible. We lived in Southeastern Tennessee, for goodness sake. She really enjoyed the experience and even shot my .308.
Today, she is not an avid shooter, but sometimes (2-3 times a year) she likes to just go plinking with me. Last time we went out she shot exceptionally well with my XD45 and has begun to refer to it as hers (yikes!). Also, she really likes to shoot hard kicking firearms (.44 magnum, 3 1/2 inch magnum 12 gauge, etc.) just for the bragging rights.
