Glock 19X to be introduced in January

If there’s a huge increase in ND’s and a new training regimen must be adopted.

Humans make mistakes. Navy SEALS do. You think you can’t or won’t? Your supreme confidence is your weakness. Bill Jordan killed another officer because he screwed up. Decorated Marine, survivor of many actual shootouts, professional shooter. And he made a mistake. 5.5 pound triggers and no safety make those more likely. If you’re comfortable carrying g one, go for it. But a few years ago in PA, a trooper screwed up while going to clean his Glock and shot his 20 week pregnant wife, killing her and unborn child. Troopers now carry SIGs. Less chance of things like happening. Not a guarantee. Just less chance.
Yep, exactly. New training regimen must have been adopted to use a different tool. All these other incidents in no way prove a gun with a manual safety would have been safer, as a matter of fact they prove just what you said “HUMANS MAKE MISTAKES”. Ok I’m done feeding the troll, he’s growing bigger to the point where he won’t fit under the bridge much longer.

Nah, he still fits if he leaves his ego and typing muscles outside.

Go back to school and learn to read. I said at the time of my retirement, every recorded ND occurred with a Glock 19. I did NOT say that 35% of cops who carry Glocks shoot themselves.

Really Homey McTroll? In post number 264, you used the following line:

"As for 65% if cops carrying a Glock who don’t shoot themselves in the leg, first of all, depending on where they work the gun might never come out of the holster, and secondly, when they DO happen, they don’t always make the news so how can we know how often it does happen?"

If 65% DON"T shoot themselves in the leg, doesn't that imply that 35% DO shoot themselves in the leg?

OK, I too am done feeding the troll.

Back to the original thread topic, the G19X. I took it out to shoot it again today with my 14 year old daughter this time and we had a blast. We put 350 rounds through it today of federal aluminum and federal brass with no malfunctions. Wal-Mart has the 200 round federal aluminum boxes for $34.97 ($8.74/50) and the 100 round federal brass stuff for $18.97. That’s a pretty good deal for those that don’t reload. We also took out my p320 compact, Walther ppq 5” and 4”. I wanted her to get a feel for different striker fired guns. Next time we will shoot the hammer fired guns I have and see what she likes best. We managed to not shoot ourselves with all these guns with no manual safeties. I guess we can count ourselves lucky this time . She was a great student, the range officer was the one who said that. He was kind of keeping his eye on us at first when he found out this was her first handgun shoot and he was very impressed with her safe gun handling and her following instructions. Here’s my first target. Not bad for the first time shooting this gun, except for the couple of flyers that always seem to ruin my best group ever lol. This was at about 25 feet and as normal I was shooting slightly to the left. Sorry for the poor lighting.

I haven’t shot a glock 17 in a long time but this gun shot every bit as soft as I remember the 17’s and 19’s I’ve shot in the past. The full size grip and 19 slide does really give this gun a different feel, especially when double tapping or faster strings of fire. My daughter even said the G19X was the softest shooting of the 4 we brought along. Although just like my wife, her favorite was the sig p320 compact. This was her first target with the G19X after a couple of mags at about 15 feet or better. She’s very proud of this and is hanging it in her room lol.

Not bad but we definitely have some work to do. Toward the end she was even comfortable enough to do a couple controlled double taps with the glock and sig. She didn’t care for the ppq’s to much, especially after she accidentally pressed in the mag release while shooting and dropped the half loaded mag on the bench midway through shooting it. I also hit the slide lock/release lever twice and locked my slide back on the ppq midway through the loaded magazine. This happens to me sometimes when I shoot the ppq back to back with my p320 and glocks do to the massive slide lock/release levers. I have to remember to adjust my grip and all is good. My daughter also wasn’t thrilled about the aggressive texturing on the G19X grip or lack there of on the ppq. But then again she’s 14. The p320 she said was just right. I prefer the gen4/5 texturing on the G19X myself, a true case of papa bear and baby bear I guess lol. The Glock night sights are wayyy better than the Udot standard sights and makes me want these sights on all my glocks for now on. I think on glocks website they go for under $70. The trigger is better than the one on my G30S and 3rd gen G23, but still light years behind my ppq’s. I was shooting my 5” ppq with 1-1/2” groups and it is the accuracy that all my other pistols are judged by. If you’re on the fence about buying a G19X trust me and just do it, you won’t regret it I promise. If you’re looking for a smaller gun to conceal then look somewhere else, especially if you’re looking to conceal a gun at 3 or 4 o’clock. This coyote brown finish and grip color really shows the residue and grime, but as with any glock this cleans up fairly easy. In a few weeks I plan on just shooting the G19X by itself with about 500 rounds or so to see what I can really do with it. I also think I may compete with this gun in the future. At first I wasn’t thrilled about the G19X but after I bought one I can say this gun is a winner. If you don’t like glocks however this probably isn’t for you, but if you do like glocks this is a must have.

Stop feeding me then and go back to school. Somebody else said 65% of cops carrying glocks (true) and there’s not such a high incidence of shooting themselves. I responded with most ND’s don’t even get officially recorded, and those that do usually don’t make the news. I’ve seen three incidents in the locker room alone. More than a few at the range. A Florida cop was killed last year after qualification when one of his colleagues shot him between the vest.

So not every cop carrying anglick will have an ND. I’ve said it several times. But the likelihood is higher, and the stats beat it out. Hence the term Glock Leg.

I’m done here. Like talking to children. Enjoy your tan Glock. Gaston appreciates his loyal minions dumb enough to buy yet another of his products.

Jjones, nice shooting ang cool to bring your kid along. My son has only shot my .22’s. This summer I plan to move him up to a 9MM. I think he’s ready for it.

How is your trigger in the X? My 19X has the best stock Glock trigger I’ve felt so far. It still has a bit of a wall before the break and makes me shoot a touch left if I don’t strengthen my grip a little tighter than I do with my Glocks with a trigger replacement, but it’s good enough to not replace so far.

Awesome stuff and nice shooting. I can't wait to finally pay for the other half of my 19X. I am always happy to hear of dads shooting with daughters. I have a 12 year old and I really want to get her out to the range more often. She has shot one of my Colt Woodsman's as well as my wife's Walther PK380.

Also super happy to see neither of you succumbed to the great dangers of using such horribly unsafe guns! Keep an eye out next time, even well trained cops apparently shoot themselves 35% of the time.

Edit: Just out of curiosity, what weight of bullets were you using in your 19X?

Better than all the stock glock triggers I’ve shot before with the exception of the G34. There’s no need to replace the trigger in this gun unless you’re a trigger snob that needs that 3 1/2 lb trigger that breaks like a small glass vial. The ppq still has a better trigger in my opinion but this G19X stock trigger is more than serviceable. I shot some really good strings of double taps to the chest and 1 to the head before I left the range that left me impressed for a first time shoot with a new gun. I am doing what they call drinking the G19X kool-aid as of right now lol. I’m not changing anything on this gun, it’s just fine in its stock form in my opinion

I only shot 115 gr today. Next time I plan to shoot some 124 gr range ammo and my planned carry 147 gr HST’s (if I can find some, they are becoming the unicorn of bullets in my area).

Its a Glock 19 with a grip extension, painted baby poop brown and spoon fed to us as a "new" pistol... C'mon Glock... We all know you can do better...

Yep. The 19X basically defeats the purpose for the Glock 19. The Glock 19 is a compact pistol meant to be more easily conceal carried. What is the point of extending the grip frame of a Glock 19, to make it easier to grip and shoot? THAT'S CALLED A GLOCK 17, and the Glock 17 has a longer barrel which should translate to better accuracy.

I'm a Glock fan (see my avatar) but this has gimmick written all over it. Now, if GLOCK WANTS TO IMPRESS ME, do the exact opposite: that is, put a Glock 17 slide on a Glock 19 frame. THAT MEANS SOMETHING. THAT'S A TOOL I CAN USE.

It just never stops does it? Lol. People still don’t understand why this gun even exist. And for some reason people think their application of a handgun should be everyone else’s. I actually know a few people who like the glock 19 but their hands don’t fit well on the smaller grip. All the pros and cons of this gun are already all over the internet so I won’t go into that song and dance again. I’m sure there are more “X” series glocks coming but I’m also sure there will be many more complaining no matter what they introduce. Literally every single gun glock has made since the gen4 has been met with the typical complaints (except the G40). I just don’t get it.

Again, what is the point of the Glock 19? You want me to "understand why this gun even exits" then you must explain to me why the Gock 19 exists.

Let me try.
Glock makes the 19X because they think people will by it.
People buy the 19X because they want it, can afford it, and are free to do so.
The only thing I don't understand is why the 19X is so upsetting to some.

Fair enough. I won't disparage anyone from buying a pistol he/she wants. That said, Glock enthusiasts like me, have a truly legitimate gripe with the 19X as it is nothing more than a gimmick. If you don't agree, fine, but you can't sit there and tell me that there's not valid reasons to question what the hell Gock is doing.

Sell away, Glock. Go make some money.

Glock is not in business to only meet your needs. They already make the pistol for you, cant you be happy.

If you want to bash Glock then do so by bashing them for being late to the party. HK, Walther and FN have mad a pistol like the 19X for awhile now.

As far as the accuracy comment you made Im not so sure there is a lot there. I shot the 19x, G34 and G26 and the targets would not support you claim.

I do like the Glocks but the 19x is not for me but doesnt mean it wont make some guys happy.

It looks like you have a 19 size Glock in your avatar...with a 17 size mag...

You'd like a 17 slide on a 19 frame so you can still have a 17 mag hanging out the bottom?

:)

My avy is a testimony to the modularity of Glock. But if/when I use a 17 mag in my 19, it's not for CC, it's because I can.
