Looks as though glock is releasing their handgun they submitted to the mhs competition with a few changes. It’s a G19 with a G17 grip, no manual safety, no cutout in the front of the grip, no finger grooves, and in a full color glock has never personally released if I’m not mistaken. Not really thrilled about this gun as a G19L would have made me a little more happy that this but it is kind of cool anyway and one could never have enough glock 19’s

The value I see in this gun is that it has the quicker action of the Glock 19 slide, combined with the extra grip afforded by the full grip. This could turn out to be one of the most controllable 9mm out there. There are a lot of people that are quicker and more accurate with their 19 than they are with their 17, so in that sense, this will add to that in a positive manner. Maybe. It also has higher capacity of course which is a moot point due to the fact that the same can be achieved by using a 17 mag in your 19. It also looks as though this may come stock with non-plastic sights.

There are so many that say "It's not revolutionary" or "Glock needs to be innovative" and it is all a load of crap. Exactly how is a gun manufacturer supposed to be innovative in this day and age? Nearly everything that can be done, has been done in some form or another by the multitude of handgun manufacturers out there and if Glock does anything remotely similar to what anyone else has done, the internet warriors will then complain that Glock is copying others.

Glock just came out with their 5th Gen guns and everyone is whining about it just being a tiny change yet how many other manufacturers can say they just changed their rifling and barrels that they have used since the 1980's? Glock made their new gun arguably more accurate and more reliable and people say they did essentially nothing. They went away from the finger grooves showing that they were responsive to those whose hands the grooves did not fit. So, in summary, they made the gun more accurate, more reliable and made it fit more hands while offering three different factory sight options and people still whine about it not being enough! if that does not make people happy, what possible revolutionary change could they make to make the haters less hateful? Maybe they could stamp "SLIDE ZONE" on the slide or something.

No matter what glock does they will never be able to please everyone. However this is more than likely the start of the “X” crossover series with different slide and barrel length combinations that glock has traditionally made. I hope a Glock 19LX is next with a regular 19 grip and 34 slide. I don’t really see a point of a 19 with a 17 slide, might as well go all the way longslide to make a marginal difference. But then again I like the ppq longslide which is basically a g19 with g34 slide

This is the civilian version of the mhs glock submitted to the military. We have to realize this. I think glock will offer many more “X” series guns in the future (I hope). Sign me up for a 19 with a 34 slide.

you're probably correct since the g5's barrel lockup is the same for 19 & 17. Which happens to be the old (g1-3) 19's barrel lockup, just with longer barrel length to fit the 17.

A completely new pistol/rifle/something? Lots of manufactures put something new/fresh out.i.e. Rem, SA, Ruger all recently put out new guns. Sometimes they crash and burn sometimes not.
Definitely not a "hater" as I own 5 glocks... but see a money grab plain and simple. People have been doing various combos and chopping grips for decades.
All those new and improved as you laud, are really not. they dusted off old molds and made slight changes. whoopee....
Oh, but they did change rifling.. Stop the presses its revolutionary.. :(

Like others I'd rather see a G17 slide on a 19 frame just cause the grip is the harder part to conceal.

Whatever. I'll just buy the Gen 5 G19 without the finger grooves or maybe buy a 3rd gen G17 and send it off for an undercut trigger guard, grip chop to 19 length, shaving the finger grooves off and some stippling.

I have 5 Glocks so it's not like I need another, but they are addicting.

I keep thinking of new coke when glock releases a new model.

I like glocks and have several but what can glock release since their motto is perfection. If they did offer a whole new pistol their motto would be, what? ... perfection revised... or raising perfection....

They have sung the praises of polymer dao striker fired pistols with plastic sights and paddle trigger so long it is very difficult to move on.

They make (made) great pistols but need to offer something else. Wouldn’t have to be ridiculous. How about an aluminum frame version, or a version with a different grip shape, or a hammer fired version. Or, at the top of thr heap, a modular version. Sig figured it out I’m sure Gaston can.

Just let me keep buying gen3 and gen4 glocks and I’ll be happy I guess

They didn't "dust off old molds" as they never made a frame without finger grooves, with Gen 4 grip texture and one less cross pin hole and a beveled front. (Yes, the new ones are showing up beveled to match the slide). They have no need whatsoever to come out with something completely new. They are Glock and the Glockiness of Glocks is what makes Glocks Glocks. Glocks are low parts-count, low profile, reliable and accurate semi-auto handguns without a bunch of unnecessary levers, knobs, switches and widgets.

Yes, Remington, SA and Ruger have come out with new stuff, like the Remington RP9, which actually feels cheaper than a Hi-Point and is being sold for nearly the same money. Or, the well built, well designed and trouble free R51. And when was the last time you heard of Military personnel opting to use a gun from any of the three companies you mentioned despite all their new offerings?

So, the question I asked was, what possible REVOLUTIONARY change could Glock make to make the haters less hateful and your answer was "A completely new pistol or rifle or something." How is that revolutionary?

well aren't we the die hard fanboi...

riddle me this... how many "new" revolutionary guns will be made from the following combos???

6. My final answer. I’m sure it will be 6 guns that people will buy and others will complain about.
Pretty sure its close to 720 combos. and thousands that complain.

Glock is played out till Gaston kicks the bucket.. then and only then we might see real change.

Ooooooh, a “fanboi” reference. Color me burned. Not the first time that has been used in place of a knowledgeable and meaningful response. Haters gotta hate, and yes, just because you may own Glocks doesn’t mean you don’t fit the hater category.

Anyway, back to the gun in question, I really do hope this evolves into a whole line of X guns, that would make a bit of sense. I think the idea of a 17 slide on a 19 frame makes more sense than this current idea but IMO a 19 slide on a 19 frame seems to be the best of both worlds.

They've been making that gun for years, simply buy a G19 and use G17 mags if you want more ammo. I fail to see the point. The longer G17 slide on a shorter G19 grip makes more sense.

And a thumb safety option wouldn't hurt a thing. S&W and Ruger offer their guns with, or without safety. Give buyers the option to decide.

Looks like they are taking a page out of the FN playbook. All of the full size FN pistols (FNX and FNS) sport a 4" barrel and full size grip if you don't opt for the LS models.

I'm going to be the shallow one and go on the record that I really hate the look of a full size grip on a compact barrel. The boomerang look of a 17 round grip paired with a 4" barrel looks more fugly to me than even the most homely of bland poly guns (I've never had an issue with Glock aesthetics and I find the SIG P320 to be all-business handsome. I even find the tactical mini-blowdryer look of the sub compact Storm attractive).

I much prefer a longer barrel with a more easily concealed compact grip. It's one of the reasons I am warming up to the modular guns. While it doesn't make financial sense to swap my full size 320 9mm to a sub compact 40, popping on a $47 compact grip and using an old p250 compact mag I had on hand really helps conceal the gun.

At any rate, I don't mind Glock. I try one out every 3 or 4 years. They do what they do well. However, I have zero interest in this.
