I am thinking about getting a Glock31 and would like to hear from people that have had and or still have one.

Reasons why I want the 31 are I already have and dont really need anymore 9mm's or 45acp's and I really hate .40s&w for some reason so I'm going with the .357sig.

Also, anyone that has shot one of the "C" models and the regular I would like to hear your thoughts on if it makes a difference at all. If I could I would go out and shoot these before I buy one but I cant really do that as there are no ranges around where I live that rent guns and all my friends are 1911 fans.

This is my first Glock.

Thank you.

Great choice! My 31 is by far the most accurate of any Glock I've ever owned or shot (I've experienced nearly all except the 45GAP models). Literally puts holes on top of one another. I don't carry it often, but would never part with it.

The .357SIG shoots flat, hits hard, and recoil is very manageable (comparable to a 9mm +P+ or hot 40). I actually prefer it over 10mm. Haven't tried a 31C next to mine to see if there's any difference, although I doubt you would notice much because the felt recoil (to me anyway) is straight back, with very little muzzle flip.

Where are you located, BTW? If by chance you're in the Houston area, I'd be glad to meet you at a range to try my 31 before you purchase one.

If it does break Glock gives you a new one right?

And to BullsEye10x: Thanks for the tips. I live in California so its not that close to Houston. Thank you for the offer.

Just be aware of the ammo issues. .357 Sig can be hard to find, it's pricey, and it's not the easiest round to reload for. It is a pretty awesome round, though.

I have a 31C and I can say it's my fun gun:)

The differences between the 31 and 31C are of course the ports on the barrel and slide. The front sight of the 31C gets dirty but you could just wipe it off in between magazine changes. No, the front sight will not come off of it with extensive firing if the sight has been properly installed and loc-tited in place. I don't know what would happen to fiber optic front sights on a 31C.

The 31C takes a bit more time cleaning because of the ports in the barrel. Fouling builds up in front of the ports near the muzzle. Nothing a bronze brush will have a hard time taking care of. The slide you can wipe down with a paper towel.

In terms of recoil between the two, it's about the same. The only noticable difference is the muzzle flip. The 31C will be less. The down side is that it is louder. You'll especially feel the blast in an indoor range and so will the nest two lanes on both sides.

I don't know what the law regarding internet sale of ammunition in CA but I've seen that the price of .357SIG is about the same as .45ACP.
