I have an older Glock 2nd gen. It needs some TLC, a refinish, and hopefully a gen 3 frame.

Im told you can sent a gun back to glock and they will change some springs, and refinish the gun, is this right?

Also, is there any way to get a 3rd gen frame put on?

Glock will upgrade your frame for $150.

You have to send them the gun, you don't get your old frame back at all, and the new frame will have a different serial number (unlike the old upgrade offer where it was your # with a letter added, IIRC) -- the mismatched numbers might affect resale value down the road, if that is a concern.

I cannot speak to the refinishing/servicing issue -- hopefully someone else can fill you in on that.

they'll refinish the slide for about $40, when they update the internals.

if you get a new frame, you'll have to do new paperwork and paid new fees on it...it's like buying a new gun

Since there are people out there who prefer the 2nd Generation frames, for the lack of finger grooves, why not sell this one to some one who will appreciate it and get a 3rd Gen if that's what you want?

I sent a gen 1 in for an internals upgrade. the slide was pretty worn. they did not refinish it. most of the internals were replaced though. this was about 8 months ago.

I'm one of those people. I hate the new finish on the slides, it's very slippery and shiny. The finger grooves and accessory rail are lame to me. I guarantee someone will pay enough to make it worth your while.

you have to request and pay separately for the refinish
