Directly answering the OP, I think it's important to not only look at the behavior of the Glock fanboys, but also at the groups who are adamantly against Glocks.
If you remember when the Glock first hit the market, it didn't get the warmest reception from the shooting community, specifically those who believed in the traditional makings of a firearm (steel). Whether you be a fan of the 1911, Sigs, Beretta, etc, all gathered together in their hatred of this plastic bastard of a firearm called a Glock. While many have accepted that the Glock was here to stay and subsequently warmed up to the monstrosity, it is still accepted behavior to knock the Glock (i.e. this thread).
Could this feeling of insecurity found in Glockies be a direct result of belittlement from others within the shooting community, leading to Glock "Zions" such as Glock Talk?
Am I thinking about this stupid topic way to hard??? - YES
