Finally got my Swedish M41B sniper from samco last week. Been waiting to get this one for a while. :D

Its a 1908 dated Carl Gustafs dated reciver. It has a post war german AJack 4x90 scope. The scope, mount receiver, and bolt are matching. The rest are not matching. I am not sure about the stock being orginal, I read the stock disk and it list the rust in the barrel as a 3, but the bore is pristine.

The scope can has the scope number written on it. But has a ink stamp on the side of a can a different. The same number was stamped into the lid, but looks like some trid to grind off the number.

The scope is clear. Although there is a little black hair line below the left side horizontal post, as you can see in the pic. I tried to clean the lens, buts its still there. Not sure if this on the inside of what. Scope caps are missing the leather strap between them.

I asked for a orginal M41b two piece sling, but they were out and got a common one piece insteand. Guess i have to search out the correct one. Any ideas?

Can't wait to try her out.

The only serial numbers that need to match on a M41B are the bolt, receiver (covered up by the scope mount though), the mount, and the scope ring set- also the stamp on the scope can should match. If you take the handguard off the barrel serial will match as well.

The stock may or may not match depending on whether it was replaced last time it was in arsenal. The bore wear disc realy doesn't mean too much- it takes a very large number of rounds towear out a 6.5x55 barrel, the rifles were selected for accuracy- a very accurate rifle with a slightly worn bore would have been more desireable than a rifle with a new barrel that only shot average. As far as bore grading goes, I'm not sure how they did it, and there probably aren't many people alive today that do know for sure. A bore/throat of a swedish rifle that was near replacement may be in better condition than you might find on a new factory rifle today. FWIW, the bore on my M41B is dark in the grooves.

I'd be interested if there are stockholm crown stamps on your rifle (crown over the letter 'S'). There should be one on the stock wrist and one near the muzzle. I've heard of the stamps being missing on some rifles, mine is missing both.

From the picture, the crosshairs look somewaht tilted, you might want to try to realign those. Besure to loosing the windage locking screw on the bottom of the ring base before trying to adjust windage- also be very carefull with the windage screws- they break very easily.

Good luck with it, I bet it will be a very good shooter.

Scope caps are missing the leather strap between them.

I've been told a cobbler could fix that. The strap on my caps came broken. They also turn up on ebay once in awhile.

Want to see someting somewhat humorous about the scope cans? Here's an auction I recently trackedout of morbid curiosity on Epay:

I've made a bit of money funding my hobbiesby selling swedish M94/14 parts on Epay, I just wish I would have stocked up on stock discs 5 years ago when they cost $5/ea- they now sell for upwards of $40 on the auctions

Hope you didnt get one of the "put togethers". SAMCO has been know to "build" them as they bought all of the Sniper tifles from Sweden about 15-20 years ago. They ran out a while back but magically found more recently.

Either way they are good shooters and can really be accurate with good loads. Only thing to worry about is the scope....hope nothing goes wrong with it..

Lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky SOB!

That is one fantastic rifle... it's in my "Perfect Top Ten."

There was a reseller from europe that bought several hundred M41Bs from Samco several years ago, but because of customs or other legal problems ended up selling them back to Samco a few years back. Hence the 'reappearance' of Oberndorf M41Bs.

If you were to listen to some of the blowhards on some collector sites, you would be led to believe that all snipers purchased from Samco after they purchased theirs was a fake putogether piece of junk.

Congratulations, very nice. Now go take out that Lego in the corner there.

The crosshairs are acutally level. I noticed the picture it appears tilted but only the camera was off level. took many tries to get a good picture.

I just got a m41B sniper. Perfect blue conditon and perfect tiger walnut stock with proofs, but no serial number on stock...where is it locatred? Numbers alre all matching on 1917 Gustoff. Scope and rail matching, but different from rifle. Pefect optical..perfectly bright and clear.Sight is a strage civilian version of M55 sight. Question...since this rifle appears to be arsenal reblued..is that right? There are also to drill tap holes on top of rear reciever...for no apparent reason. Is this real or a SARCO put together...I paid $1600 and the guy said it was the best they ever had in...based on codition. But is it real? Help

The ones that Samco are selling are the M41b model, which as i understand it are post WWII. There are M41 out there made during WWII. Some with AJACK scopes made by germany in WWII. Not sure if they saw any combat, but don't think so. Swedan was netural after all.

Serious Investment

WOW !!! All the 41b's come out of the woodwork. The mil surplus sniper ammo from Samco is without a doubt the best shooting mil-surplus ammo I have ever shot. I worked up handloads for my 41B but the surplus stuff shot just as well. Quite amazing actually. Amen to the Amen Cracked butt. The windage screws are VERY fragile, and if you break one ..... your screwed (no pun intended). I did break one and had to plead with Samco to send me just one, which they eventually did :D Unless there's something inherently wrong with the firearm you will find it very enjoyable and very accurate as MJ has shown. I got mine about 10 years ago from Samco. It's an Oberndorf unit with a 1900 receiver. The bore was a bit dark and initally it shot fine but went south shortly thereafter. Couldn't get it to come clean either. Found a new original barrel, Swedish made and had it installed. Folks who get these things are either crazy or very serious about this empassioned hobby. It's no wonder why the Nazis never mucked with Sweden. Big blonde haired, blue eyed dudes carrying these things around ...... no thanks. Heck, even the M96s and m38s are fantastic shooters. I would even go as far as to say these are the most accurate military firearms ever issued. Anyway, here's a few pics of my Swedes. The only non-matching #s part on it is the cleaning rod.
