I like to ask this from time to time.

Which discontinued firearms do you wish manufacturers would bring back into production? Would you prefer the weapon modernized in any way if it's an old design? For me, I'd leave most classic designs as-is, with the exception of better lockup/metallurgy so they can handle modern loads (even +P) without risking damage or excessive wear.

Here are some of the guns I wish they'd return to production:

Winchester/USRAC: Bring back the 1892! None of this limited production stuff; return it to full production and discontinue the pistol-caliber 94s. And stop putting the spring-loaded takeup in the triggers of your trappers! Also, bring back the 1895 in .30-06 (they do make 'em in .270, but not .30-06, apparently).

Smith & Wesson: Get rid of the internal locks, for one. For two, how about some blued guns? It seems every single thing they make is stainless, now. Then, bring back the 1917, the Model 57 (4" and 6"), and the Model 25 in .45 Colt (4" and 6").

Colt: Anacondas in .45 Colt (4" and 6") would be nice, as would some of their more rack-grade revolvers. The Python and Anaconda are really kind of high-end models. Something in .41 Mag would be nice.

That's all I can think of for now.

A new-production Shansei Broomhandle Mauser in .45 ACP (or how about .400 Corbon?) would be pretty neat.

I'll second Ian's nomination. Detachable magazine though and a shoulder stock holster too. :)

Being a lever-gun fan I second the vote for a regular run of 1892's from Winchester. I'd also like to see the 38-55 in the 1894 again. I know this is really wishing, but I'd like to see the 1886 in a non limited edition also in something other than 45-70. But that's just me and I could be wrong.

Now that you mention it

The Mannlicher Schoenauer 1903(or even the later evolutionary designs), Colt New Frontier(seems to be the perfect answer to the Colt SAA vs. Ruger Blackhawk debate), Radom VIS, S&W New Century, Webley Mk VI and Boyes ATR.

HK P9S-I'd like to see it with a P7 mag release, and a frame mounted safety. I'd like to see it built with two different frames, one for the 9mm/.40/.357 sig and another for the 10mm/.45.

HK MP5/10- It would be nice to see a version of this for the .45. Need something to go with the P9 after all.

Luger-I'd like it offered with an optional SIG P210 style safety. I'd also like to see a 10mm/.45 version.

I can probably think of more later.

H&K 90 series rifles, Steyr Augs, Sig 550/552's, Colt CAR-15's, Valmet 78's, Daewoo AR100's, Galil's, Spas 12's, FNC Para's and all other weapons banned from importation by Gee-Dub Sr. ..

:fire: :cuss: :fire:

I too like the Star Firestar but I would also like to see the Colt Woodsman and the Luger brought back into production.

Like firestar, I wonder how Goerg Luger's "Pistole Parabellum '08" would sell and perform (and at what price) given modern metals & methods.

I fired a Colt Woodsman once, thought it shot well. Would also like to see what Colt would do on a remake of the Trooper line.

Would like to see Ruger bring back the Security/Service/Speed Six line, although it is hard to argue the popularity of the GP-100 series.

Had a Rem Nylon 66 as my first .22LR autoloader, shooting buddy had the detachable box mag version (Nylon 77 ?). Decent shooters at a reasonable price. Many a squirrel & rabbit filled the pot courtesy of my Nylon 66.

Luger in .45 ACP (only made a prototype for the US ARMY sidearm competition)

Savage needs to make another decent .22/.410 combo with wood furniture, not just the survival model.

Little break-open concealable revolvers like Iver Johnson used to make, but good quality and shooting hotter rounds.

If the hi-cap ban goes away, I'd like to see the helical magazine concept of the Calico 950 resurrected (hopefully by other manufacturers, ). Fifty and 100 round magazines in a very small package. Good idea if it could be made reliable.

Amen to that.

Second the Savage 22/410 break action. JUST like the first model. Walnut stock and the side button selector. And the Savage 219 rifle and 220 shotgun. As soon as these are for sale somewhere, they sell. I would suggest to the gun makers to do a better job of marketing what buyers want. They should look at what sells on the web, at auctions and at gunshows. Not what some glossy gun mag writer likes at the moment. I haven't bought a new gun for a couple of years. I don't like stainless steel, plastic stocks and all that damn safety writing on the barrels.

2nd Generation Colt Single Action Armys.

Three screw Ruger Blackhawks.

Blue steel S&W DA revolvers. And, while we're wishing how about loosing the stupid lock.

First series of Kimbers (no Swartz safety).

Pre-ban AR-15s. Pre ban most anything to be honest.

Guess I'm not impressed with any of the factory's "new and improved' models.

Well, Let's See-

Smith & Wesson model 39 and 39-2

Colt Match Target Woodsman

Smith & Wesson 4" barrel model 18

Colt Diamondback in .22LR and .38 Special

Smith & Wesson 2" barrel RB model 34

.45 caliber Colt Combat Elite

4" Smith & Wesson model 57 and 657

Remington XP-100 in .221 Remington Fireball

Ruger .30 caliber Carbine SA

2" barrel Colt Agent

Smith & Wesson model 41

and I almost forgot,

Smith & Wesson model 19 in 2.5-4-6" barrels

That is the ones I can think of right off the bat; but I'm
sure there are a lot more, like the Smith & Wesson
models 23 and 24!:D :)
