Taurus president, Bob Morrison said they were looking at making some military reproductions like the Broomhandle Mauser.

Now I would gladly buy one or two of those if they were to make them. How many others would buy one as well?

Guntalk could you please pass on to Bob Morrison that bringing out the Mauser 1912 in 9mm(Broomhandle) would be a great idea.

I would buy one.I think the broomhandles are really neat looking, but I cant ever see myself dropping the money to get a real one, just because I like how it looks, but if the reproductions where cheap enough, I'd get one.

I'd love to have a quality Broomhandle Mauser that has zero collector's value but looks, shoots, and functions great. Give it a price tag of $500-800 and I'm in.

A Broomhandle is not a Broomhandle without a shoulder stock. New production would require a SBR registration with the ATF.

Any rumors as to what cartridge it will chamber? Is 9mm a safe assumption?

Interesting idea, though not sure how it would sell.

Man, I wish that some American companies had half the cojones of Taurus! Check that, Brazillian Portuguese... um... "had half os ovos of Taurus"???

And There Was That Other Caller . . .

. . . who called in and suggested producing a mini-BAR in .223 (5.56)

And Bob sounded interested in that idea, too. Said it's a simple rifle to build . . .

*Hops from one foot to the other*

Oh, yes, pleeeeze!

I've already got a real one, but I certainly wouldn't mind having a well made repro.

I'd certainly also like to have a repro Mannlicher auto in .32acp, as well as a similarly chambered Bergmann.

I'd buy one. ESPECIALLY if they made it so you could swap between using the "internal mag" with clips and using a stick mag.

I would have a Form 1 in the mail the same day I picked it up.

EDIT: An original, but still common, caliber like 9mm would be sweet. But .45 would friggin rule, because then I could convert it to 10mm.

A broomhandle made from modern materials should be able to handle the 9x23mm Winchester.

The old 9mm Mauser cartridge was nothing to sneeze at!

7.62 would also be fun, as would a barrel for the .22 Reed Express, a .22 wildcate based on the 7.62x25 Tokarev cartridge. It would fit in the broomhandle's mag well.

Lots of possibilities here. Might not be the most practical thing in the world, but it would be a lot of fun.

I would not buy one.

I would buy 2 or 3.

IMNTBHO, if a gun can be "sexy", the Broomhandle most definitley IS.

Don't forget the Bolo!

You know, a shorter barrel and flatter grips. For CCW. :)

Ooh, ooh- TITANIUM!

Seriously, a standard mil-spec would be just fine. For now.

Broomhandles, such a cool looking pistol. Got one for a friend of mine for $250. Numbers didn't match, but the price was right. Wouldn't mine getting one
for myself!:) It would be neat if it was chambered in .45 ACP, I know, not original but ....
Seen a while back a fella in Cal. was hand building Lugers in .45 but at $15,000, a bit to much for all but serious buyers. Oh but to have a set!:D

Best in the New Year........ Mike

SHOOT1SAM I would not buy one.

I am with you if they came in under $1,000 I would buy two, if over probably just one. I have always wanted one to shoot a lot, not just to collect and maybe shoot once or twice.

I'm glad to have one in my collection. Twice as glad that I bought it long enough ago that it only cost me a bit over three hundred bucks. Lots of fun to shoot.

I think repros would still be rather pricey - one of the things that led to the original being discontinued was the extreme amount of machining that was required, very labor intensive. Even with CNC, there's still a lot of machining processes to be done.

Price it affordably, put it in a common calibre, and I'd be all over it like white on rice.

I'd buy the mauser, and a Walther P-38, put them side by side, and be the ultimate nerd gun owner. ;)

Great idea! The one dark cloud would be anybody remember the reproduction Lugers? The good ones (Mauser made) were more expensive than an original and the stainless ones (Mitchell?) weren't much cheaper and didn't function worth a crap.

I'll buy one! Maybe two, depending on the prices. I love the broomhandles, except for their prices.

They might make it in 7.62x25 Tokarev, and put it in doublestack... but any common pistol caliber will do.

And a BAR in .223.... at least one.

I'm really starting to like Taurus. A lot.

OH YEA!! If they could make it stronger than the original and able to use the surplus 7.62x25 CZ-52 ammo....I'd get one.

Maybe alter the grip a little so it wouldn't squirm around so much with the hot ammo. Detatchable mags ala 712. That would be so sweet.

Can't imagine them making one for less than $1000 though. Lots of difficult parts to make. Hope it comes through.

Ever since I was a young boy, I have always wanted a Broomhandle
Mauser and a Colt SAA. I aquired both many years ago.

I have the holster / shoulder stock, for the Broomhandle.
The one I have is a 1929 model.

The Colt SAA is in 45 Colt. Made in 1913 And looks brand new.

Windjammer

If Taurus makes broomhandles in 9mm, .40, and/or .45, I will be on that business like white on rice. Sign me up, 'cause I'm ready.
