Right on. Everyone else who achieved anything did it on their own, so it's hard to respect someone whose parents helped.

Well, some people have parents that help, and then some people have parents whose friends install them on corporate boards where they do nothing but tell dirty jokes. Some people have parents who give them their first cars, and some people have parents that bump them to the head of a very long line to get into the Texas Air National Guard.

Many politicians come from privileged backgrounds, but the vast majority have had to work very hard to get where they are regardless. Bush has shown a pattern of drug abuse, laziness and poor impulse control, flying off the handle when criticized in the slightest. Someone with those tendencies does not naturally succeed in politics, or even as a Wal-Mart greeter.

Yes, that must be why Bush is president because he was unsuccessful in politics.

No it is 'A vast right wing conspiracy'. Giving up Congress was just for show.

Or maybe he is just a good and decent man who is human like everyone else and makes mistakes but lives his life in a giant fishbowl so that he can be easily critized by everyone who disagrees with him every day of his life.

For some reason a quote from "Sneakers" comes to mind:

"I want peace on earth and good will toward man."
"We are the United States Government. We don't do that sort of thing."

Perhaps, after the generations that became teenagers and young adults in the 1960s, 70s, and 80s have all died out and are no more than vague memories, their grandchildren can rebuild this country into something sane, stable, and intelligent again. My assumption, and my hope, is that the country can outlast this time when everyone is so very smart, so very knowledgable, and so very, very right about everything that they feel no reluctance about correcting the failings of everyone else and imposing perfection upon them. I wish I could live to see that future time.

Of course I'm talking about Kuchinich. :)

The "peace department" idea is primarily aimed at promoting diplomatic foreign policy solutions, if I remember what Kuchinich said about it correctly, which is better than the clumsy aggression of the Bush admin. It would basically provide a central nexus of support for US ambassadors working on conflict resolution as in Israel or Eastern Europe.

conflict resolution as in Israel or Eastern Europe.

Well, you know, just because it hasn't worked for 3000 years, doesn't mean it won't work now.:scrutiny:

I keep encouraging my cat, and I'm sure he'll start talking any day now.;)

if I remember what Kuchinich said about it correctly,

And if you believe and drink the Kool Aid.

While we are all looking at 1022 which has no cosponsors this bill proposed by Dennis Kuccinich is gathering steam and supporters.

Just because 1022 has no cosponsors doesn't mean we should relax. It's my understanding the same was true of the 1994 bill, until the last minute. My guess is that the same will be true of 1022. This tactic minimizes the time that constituents have to voice their opposition. So those of you with RAT and RINO reps should be hounding them now to not support 1022. Because by the time they do cosponsor at the last minute, it will be too late.

Just when did we start letting the cast of Monty Python start writing bills to be proposed before congress. Jerry (governor moonbeam) Brown must have had something to do with this. Just when I think nothing more can come from DC to confound me the Birkenstock set comes along with something new from the realm of fantasy.

You folks think this is about peace??

Boy do they have you fooled.

This is a socialist power grab by the left, cloaked in the its for your own good disguise. The socialists havent been able to create a leftist dictatorship through piecemeal legislation. So they are shooting the moon with this one.

The want to control, Law enforcment, Firearms, Free Speech, Education, the Military, and All foreign affairs. They also have provisions to control agriculture, (the animal cruelty thing).

This piece of crap will let them counteract any department, and legislation, and any of our constitutionally protected freedoms, by executive fiat. That way when Hilda Beast or Obama bin laden, get elected they wont have to bother with legislation, getting bills passed into law and such other annoying nonsense. Best of all they can dictate the education of our youth to accept this nonsense.

The only thing I missed in this Bill was where they appoint all of our judiciary, but that can be taken care of via treaty agreements:barf:

If this passes they can regulate civillian possession of firearms out of existance, under the guise of promoting peace and non violence, and their control of the ATF.
