How about a Para Ordinance Warthog? 10 + 1 rounds in a very controllable package. Comes in stainless or black. Mine has been shot by about 9 different people and every one of them enjoyed shooting it and were accurate with it right from the start...

I've got a CZ97BD and HK USP Compact and they are both the tits! The CZ97BD is like accurate, shoots all day long, no jams ect...and I'm a CZ supporter so, there you have it.

My HK is my carry gun now that it's got'n damn hot. It's easy to conseal, accurate, great trigger, no jams (and I've shot it well over 500 rounds since I got it). So I can personally recommend these 2 guns.

I've heard the CZ97B is also a great
.45 ACP, and ever HK I've shot has been right on!

My 2 cents. Take it or leave it, it's all good!!!

Something slim, svelte and simple?

No, I'm just kidding. And I don't care if you ARE tired of Sigs (another P220)! :neener:

P-90 or P-345 Ruger auto-loader
S&W and others have DA revolvers
Or a Blackhawk "Convertible" SA revo .45Colt and .45ACP cylinders {next up on MY wish list}

Two really great ones that often get over looked are the Bersa 45 and the Kahr CW45.

Hey Wiry Irishman, I envy your "bed holster"!! Appears to be a very viable solution to an otherwise expensive alternative........makes me think of something that I'd "cobble" up here in Arkansas!!!!!!! You must have a degree in "Gunnery Holstering Technology"!!

...and be unmarried or have a very understanding wife. My wife would shoot me with the .45 if she caught me adding that decoration to the bed. :)

I know I will get pelted with rotten tomatoes but I just got a Taurus Millenium Pro PT145 and it is a hoot to shoot. 11 rounds in a sub compact polymer 22 oz frame. You said different.

I really like my CZ97B.

I had a reputable gunsmith perform a trigger job, It shoots almost as good as my Colt GoldCup.

Here's a pic.

I've always wanted a CZ 97b. Heard tons of great things about them and think they are cool as heck.

Looks like a nice gun...... I love my XD45 compact.... A Kahr is probably next on my list. The new Ruger felt good , if it only didnt have a safety on it..

S&W 3rd Gen 4516-1

Taurus PT145
1911 type safety,(sorta) cocked and locked.
Cant beat the fact its got a single action trigger that if it FTF will restrike as a double action.
AND it feels great in the hand. 10+1 capacity should do.

Check out the HK's:

There are lots of HK's in .45:

The fairly new HK45 (developed for cancelled JCP trials) and HK45 Compact.

The mammoth HK MK23 SOCOM pistol.

The HK USP 45 Compact/CT, a good do it all choice.

The HK USP 45 (and it variants: Tactical {used by the Aussie SAS}, Elite, Match).

S&W 4506 or 4566. Cheap, reliable, built like a tank, but doesn't feel like a Ruger. The 4566 is a very good carry gun for anyone over ~190LBS.

I'll throw out my support for the EAA Tanfoglio Elite Match. It is what a CZ97 should be. They are so close the Tanfolio's model designation is the TZ97L.

Here's my reason. I've been shooting an excellent Kimber in IDPA for a bit more than 10 years. I was one of those guys who finished between second and fifth every match. I tried my Tanfoglio on a whim at one match and won. I followed that up with a streak of seven wins.

I went from just one of the guys at the area matches to the one to beat in CDP. The only difference was the gun.

I admit, I did a little work to it, but I do a little work to all my better guns. Before I ever shot it I replaced all the springs, added a titanium firing pin, changed the sights and had custom aluminum grips machined for it. I also replaced the mag springs, followers and base plates. But, I consider all those things to be basics that I do to any gun I may use in competition.

I have two pistols I will own the day I die. The Elite Match is one of them.

Last month, I had the opportunity to trade a couple older SW revolvers that were taking up safe space for a HK Mark 23 SOCOM.

Never enjoy getting rid of a gun but I've got a bunch of Smiths and these were the "lesser" of my revolver collection.

Back to the point of this post: I'd read a bunch about the Mark 23 but until I got my hands on one, and shot one ..... holy sh*t, what a weapon! Amazing accuracy, very little felt recoil, wonderful ergonomics, and a cool factor off the charts!

Not for CCW, but the ultimate in home defense! 12+1 in 45acp! If you've got the bucks, IMHO there is not another 45 out there like it. Good luck in your search.

If I can hold out a bit longer this will be my next pistol.

I am just waiting on the FDE one to show up with a manual safety.
They have the black and the black and stainless ones out.
But I am holding out for the FDE one with night sights.
$660 with a shooters pack.

I have seen a few of the regular DA/SA ones on GB for as low as $400
