Have you ever sold a gun then bought it back? If so, what gun?
For me its a S&W 431PD. I sold it before because I was the only person who couldn't shoot it well. I bought it back a couple months ago and took it to the range (aka the family farm) last weekend.Of course, Dad shot it better than me even though he never shoots a pistol, but I noticed some things I was doing to spoil my shots. By the end of the session I was shooting it better already.
So, what guns have you sold only to buy back later?

I've never done that, but I've sold guns only to later buy an exact copy...

Done that a few times.

I'm on my third Beretta 92FS INOX
I'm on my second Ruger P89DC
I've owned three different Ruger MkII Govt Target Models at different times.

Well, I traded a Sig P226 off on a Kimber 1911 Royal Carry to appease the wife then a few months later went back in and bought it back. :D

I "sold" a Colt Combat Commander and the deal fell through before the gun/money exchange.

What a feeling of relief, I can't believe the level of sellers remorse I felt!

Only gun I ever sold was a Colt, did not want it back. A Glock took its place, not near as pretty but it always works.

I sold a P226 to a local gunshop. Was in the market for a P226 about a year later, they had a pristine used one for a nice price. Yep, same darn one. I noticed when I was filing away the paperwork on the new one and happened across the receipt from the previous year. That was the only time I bought the same gun back, unknowingly at that. I do\did have a nasty habit of selling something and then buying another one later in the year. These days I always keep one of something if I like it so I don't run into the problem...as much.

Many years ago I bought my dad a pre-ban Mini-14 with folding stock and gave it to him for his birthday. I don't think he ever put more than a couple hundred rounds through it. A few years ago he was telling me he was going to sell that old mini-14 he had in the safe and said he couldn't remember wher he got it or what he gave for it. He told me I could have it for $250, after I bought it from him I reminded him just where it came from and what he gave for it (nothing).

Traded a sporterized mauser vz24 my dad gave me...

About 30 years ago I (very stupidly, I might add) traded my deer rifle, a Czech vz24 based sported my dad gave me when I was 13 for a shotgun. I recently tracked down my buddy and offered to buy it back. He graciously said sure. It has more sentimental value I reckon but it did shoot well and I shot it a lot back then, from 'chucks to deer. Learned about reloading with that gun... Got it back late this afternoon and did a clean up on it. Not bad. No rust or pitting just missing the front sight ramp and bead. Ain't ever going to sell that gun. WooooooooHooooooo. Can't wait to go shooting with it after I put a scope back on it. Off to the range tomorrow...

Ten year ago, I traded away a Finnish M-39 as part of a package deal for a Browning Hi-Power.

In the intervening years, the Hi-Power got stolen in a house break-in.

Last year, I was visiting the guy I traded the M-39 to, and he offered to sell it back to me.

I bought it.

Mine was a Colt Combat Commander (series 70 with series 80 markings!) that I sold to a local gun dealer 'cause I needed the cash. Ten months later it was still sitting in his showcase, and I had some extra $$ (hurray for overtime!), so he kindly sold it back to me with a 'slight' profit.
Have also done the "sell one, buy a duplicate later" thing - had 3 10/22s, 3 Moss 500 12ga, 2 1903's,............ah, well, you get the point:rolleyes:
And BTW, should any person in the Connecticut area (maybe central CT) own a 1911 .45 with black teflon coating and can group 1 1/2" at 15y, I'd be interested in getting it back - that was the first .45 I ever built - have always kicked myself for letting go of that one!!:banghead: :banghead:

I've been fortunate enough to be able to buy back two firearms that I'd foolishly sold, one a 1930 Colt 1903 Hammerless, and the other a USGI M1 Carbine (Inland/Underwood).

There have only been 2 in my collection that I dont still have. Traded a shotgun fer a rifle a few weeks ago. The other was a Reck derringer that was stolen. If I find the heartless @&$* that stole it well no telling what they will go through. That was i gift from a good friend of mine who passed away a few months later.

One shot one kill

Yeah, that's something I've never done. When I sell or trade a gun, it's because it has somehow fallen out of favor w/ me  I have sold many over the years and don't really regret any of them. I do regret selling off my HK long guns just before the AWB :cuss: Those are the ones I regret! :banghead:

Two. A S&W Model 18 .22. I bought it nib in 1977. Traded it to my brother in the early '80's. He wrapped in a felt bag and never fired it. I bought it back a couple of years ago. The first time it cost me $178. This time it cost me $300. It's still like new.

I gave my dad a Charter Arms Bulldog as a retirement present back in the early '80's. He gave it back to me a few years ago when his arthritis became so bad could nolonger shoot it. I sold it to a friend a couple years ago. After Dad died last year i started wishing i had never sold it. My friend sold it back to me last June. It's well worn, still shoots good, doesn't shave lead, still locks up tight and has a pair of worn Pachmayer Compact grips. It's worth about a hundred bucks. I'll never let it go again.

Colt Diamondback with a 6" tube. Traded it with one of my partners about 15 years ago and have been trying to trade back into it since then. Last year I finally lucked out and cut loose an FN HP plus some boot to gather the Colt back from him. It still groups almost one round on top of another with 158gr bullets. Most of these Colts were extremely accurate and this particular one is an anomaly that is ridiculously accurate.

i've never done that exactly, but i had a pretty strange occurence.

years ago, i bought a used Smith & Wesson Model 36 at a gun show for a song. it was beat to hell, lots of holster wear, the target grips were dried up and were missing chunks. i figured it would be a good beater gun. as we were wrapping up the sale, the dealer mentioned he still had the original box. i took it home and opened the box, and a faded receipt fell out.

the receipt had my father's name on it. he was the original owner. in the past he mentioned a 36 he had when i was a kid, and how it was one of the only guns he regretted trading. my father was an incurable gun trader. his favorite guns stuck around, but everything else rotated like a carousel.

i took it to him and showed him the receipt, and his eyes just lit up. i told him i wanted him to have it, and he wouldn't have that....

....without giving me a 1923 Winchester Model 12 in exchange, which he'd just gotten in a big trade involving a boat (like i said, incurable!)

I bought a S&W Model 36 in the 70's and sold it after a few years. I bought another one in the the 80's and sold it in the 90's. I bought that one back and intend to hang onto it.

No, but I was visiting a new gun store today with a buddy of mine, and he came over to me and said "I owned this rifle 30 years ago". I asked him if he owned one just like it, and he said "No, I owned this very rifle".

It was a sporterized P17 with a tasco scope. It was already sporterized when he received it, but he did some shaping on the stock, and recognized his handiwork.

I almost did. Traded a Taurus 24/7 .40 for a 1911 - later I trade another, fairly valuable 1911 for an XD SC - I had trade value left over, and my old 24/7 was in the used gun case. It had been such a sweet gun for me, but next case over was a NEW 24/7 in .45. The difference wasn't much, so I went for the new one.

I have bought back the same gun and I have bought the exact model again later as well.

Same gun, Kahr E-9. I sold it to my buddy and then I missed it and wanted it back. Later I sold it to a co-worker and than I missed it and tried to get it back but he sold it to a gun shop. The gunshop had it for sale for about $150 more than I paid for it new so I didn't buy it back. Later I bought a K-9 from same gunstore for a great price. I was happy with that deal since the K-9 is better than the E-9.

I've been known to do that a time or two many years ago. It happened back when I was young because back then I had to sell/trade stuff off in order to buy the latest and greatest. It often led me to re-purchase the same type of
gun further down the road because of making a poor choice of what I sold.
On more than one occasion I tracked down the exact same gun to repurchase. It did have to be an exceptional gun I had sold off to a friend
that I knew took good care of it however.

My mother and I have a particular ruger pistol we keep selling back and forth to one another. I'm keeping it next time I get it.

I am actually getting ready to do that right now. I traded my buddy a Buckmark for a guitar amp with the proviso that if he decided to get rid of it I would get the first chance to buy it back. He has decided that a Beretta 87 is the .22 pistol of his dreams, so I am buying it back.
