Help me pick a 9MM carbine

can we not get into the nonsense about the mating of a pistol's fire-control components to a rifle ... just this once?
No. Likewise we must always correct somebody when they use the word 'clip' in place of 'magazine' even though everybody else knows what is being referred to and can resist the grammar nazi urge.

Though I do love my hipoint carbines, My sub 2k is most deffinately my favorite, accurate, reliable, compact, and great round capacity.

Another benifit of the sub2k is you can get it with interchangable mags to accompany a glock or berreta pistol

Happy and trouble free with both of these carbines. :)

The HiPoint is so very underrated in the carbine category. Normally I wouldn't be caught dead with a HiPoint but my carbine is absolutely one of the most fun and reliable guns I have. Very easily to move around in a house also if needed.

I have a Sterling. It runs OK, but for your stated purpose and <$400 budget, the KelTec makes infinitely more sense. If you can afford a bit more, an AR15/9 would be even better.

I don't own any other pistol cal. carbines to compare, but I too love my S2K. It's my bug out rifle and around where I live, concealment will mean everything. Great truck gun too - fits in a laptop bag, but has long gun legality so I can cross state borders where my CCW is not valid. Shares 15/33 round mags with my G19 and G26. Great for indoor ranges, fun and accurate.

Kinda tough to find them though.

Which 9MM carbine should I choose? The Kepl-tec sub 2000 or the 9mm sterling carbine.
I plan to use it for target practice, home denfense gun, a SHTF weapon, survival gun and all around "fun gun"

If $450 or so is the top end of what you are looking to spend, then the Sterling should be fine. You may find that it needs some tuning & TLC, but Wiselite seems to have done a good job building them.

If you have deeper pockets for this project, then my personal opinion is that an tuned MP5 clone or an Uzi are head and shoulders above all the other offerings. if you live in an NFA friendly state, then even better!

Some think a 9mm carbine is a bad choice, but I disagree. Compared to a handgun, they are much easier to shoot under pressure. Compared to a 5.56 carbine, they have much less muzzle flash and blast, and retaining your low light vision and interim hearing might be worthy of consideration. It is very easy to train someone to use a 9mm carbine and get fast follow-up shots; my experience has been that just one day can be enough to make someone quite comfortable using one. It is more difficult to develop and maintain the same proficiency with a 5.56mm carbine.

+1 in favor of the CX4. I have one in .40 and love it. Lots of ways to dress it up, too.

Not a practical choice, since it does not exist, but I do recall speaking with a gentleman about a pistol caliber version of the M14/M1A that would fit existing aftermarket stocks and other accessories. It was slated to be made in Germany before the project was cancelled.

I thought that sounded like a pretty cool little carbine.

I've very fond of my PC9. I've also got a PC40, but no 30 rounders for that one yet. Robust, rugged, good controls and sights. Only thing is many people don't like the trigger pull, understandably.

Of course, i'm also happy with my Uzi.

Boricua9mm, what make is that MP5 clone if you don't mind my asking? Or is it HK94? Very nice!

Thanks. It's a 100% functional Bobcat BW5 with real-deal German HK SEF trigger group & housing (converted to semi only). The A3 stock is from POF. The 18.5" computer bag is by Targus. :D

i have a subbie in s&w 9mm....it has eats every brand of mag i tried, factory mg, s&w, even 32 round national...nice idea of folding stock...bad idea, if you want to scope it....i also have a sterling, a long barrel, and very heavy....also not very scope friendly....i have a colefire pistol, it's heavy enough to be a carbine.....go with the keltec....gary

BWS eh? I passed on one of those several years ago for an awful cheap price because I wasn't sure about reliability. I sure wish I had picked one up now!
