375 brass is no longer available. I don't think the brass will be too much of an issue in fully supported chamber. It has nowhere to go. What do you have it chambered in?
Mine is in a H&R Handi Rifle. 22 inch barrel. It will handle the pressure, they are chambered in the 308, 30-06 class cartridges.

The problem is that the 30-30 cases are thin walled. The case heads will separate after just a few firings if you push the envelope.

Here is where I got my 375 Win brass. Out of stock now, but get on the mailing list. They tool up when they have enough requests.

Good to know, I was looking for 375 brass last year for forming 357 herrett and could not find any. I remember now seeing someone post about stareline making it about a month after I sold the 357 herrett in favor of a 357 max. I had the same issue of head separation with the 357 herrett but headspaceing the brass so it was a couple thousandth proud of the chamber face when plunked solved that. I still have 200 rounds of 30-30 brass I was saving to form into 357 herrett and 30 herrett.

Got to the range on Saturday. I should have taken some of my hand loads along. All I had with me were Georgia Arms "Deer Stoppers," which are 125 grain JHPs rated at 1200 fps out of a revolver. I didn't set up my Labradar until I was already on paper at 25 yards; I started recording velocities while shooting at 50 and 100 yards. The 18 shots recorded with the Lab showed an average velocity of 1,866 with a high of 1,989 and a low of 1,786; extreme spread of 194 and a standard deviation of 51. With that kind of variance, it was no wonder I couldn't do better than 5-6 inches at 100. All the shots were on an 8.5x11 target sheet, but they were all over it. Next time out, I'll take some ammo I built myself.

Despite the less-than-impressive initial results, I really enjoyed shooting the gun. I have it set up with a Leupold VX-3 1.5-5X20 mounted in a DNZ mount designed for an H&R Handi Rifle. I also installed a GrovTec hammer spur extension. It all came together nicely I think. There is a little bit of creep in the trigger; it's under tension, so once it has moved slightly, it doesn't return if you stop pulling. From there, it's a clean break. I found myself consciously taking up creep and pausing before final squeeze. It's very slight and it may work itself out with repeated use.

Anyway, I like it. I didn't have much time yesterday, so really wanted to "get on paper" with the newly mounted scope. I am content with the outing, but now need to spend some time learning what bullet style, weight, and charge it likes. And that's part of the fun!

Thanks for posting the range report. That is a nice looking rifle! It looks like the front sight is in a dovetail, so it would probably be easy to have the barrel shortened 4" or so.

I look forward to hearing about your load development experience, a 357 single shot break action has been on the short list for a while. Almost pulled the trigger on a custom contender several times. One of these looks like it would fill that bill very nicely.

Range update. Got to the range today with some of my hand loads. I had 20 rounds loaded with 125 grain Winchester JHPs, five each of 6.7, 6.9, 7.1, and 7.3 grains of Green Dot. I also had 20 rounds loaded with 158 grain Hornady XTPs, five each with 6.3, 6.5, 6.7, and 6.9 grains of Green Dot. Green Dot would not be my first choice for jacketed .357s, but I have almost a pound of powder I don't plan to use for anything else. Totally out of magnum primers until my next order arrives, so all loaded with Winchester small pistol primers.

It was windy, so I decided to stick to 50 yards. And for the life of me, I could not get my Labradar to register the .357s. I also shot a .260 Ackley today and the Labradar did fine with that, so I must need to tune the settings somehow. That was the most frustrating part of the outing.

Anyway, the 125s shot 2.0" (6.7 gr), 1.25" (6.9 gr), 1.8" (7.1 gr), and 2.5" (7.3 gr)--last group was going 1.5" until I launched one well outside the group.
The 158s shot better: 1.5" (6.3 gr), 1.5" (6.5 gr), 1.5" (6.7 gr), and 1.25" (6.9 gr)--all but the 6.7 gr group show a tight cluster with one well outside the group.

Not fantastic shooting, and I'm disappointed I could not record velocities. Nevertheless, much better with my hand loads than the Georgia Arms loads I shot first time out. I'm happy with 1.5" at 50 yards, and am pretty confident I can improve on that. I'll try the same basic loads again once my order of magnum primers gets in.
