Anybody gotten "hands on" with the new Henry Single Shot?

Back on topic, I do plan to handle a Henry single shot, if for no other reason than to see if they are as heavy as the listed weight. It would seem such a shame to me if they were, but if not, I may have to consider one as I do really like break-action single shots. My very first gun (and a lot of people my age) was an H&R 20 gauge single shot. So it's a platform I'm very comfortable and familiar with. I would not feel handicapped at all with a single shot rifle in 7mm-08 for deer or '06 for elk.

I prefer rimmed cartridges in my single shots.

Me too. Less chance of trouble. I will say the quality manufacturers (to include Ruger and TC) have done a good job with rimless chamberings in singles.

The issue is whether the extractor grabs the cartridge every time, and the odds are better if there is a big old rim right there to push on.

This may be a purist concern since most people do not shoot enough to cause appreciable wear on their extractors.

The reason the H&R guns were dropped is because the Remington ownership cheapened them as much as possible & they still could not compete with the budget Ruger & budget Savage guns.
Sales were way down, no profit in the line.

And the Henry single-shots are leagues beyond the H&Rs in quality. :)

Sorry, I thought it was about single-shots. LOL

It's not about sights or telescopes either. ;)
