Pretty much most of what I own is always safed/lock boxed. But there's always something that isn't, and it's never far from hand.

Disputed sentence.
There is no need to lock up every gun in the house.

I do not beleive this to be true for every one.

Original paragraph.
You only need to store firearms in a safe if they are not under your direct supervision. There is no need to lock up every gun in the house. I keep my weapon within arms reach at all times. If someone bashed in my front door right now I would simply pick my S&W up off of the table and be ready to fire.

Some of your belief seems to come from you taking that one sentence out of context. It goes in a paragraph that specifically states that firearms should be locked up if not under direct supervision. Any weapon I am currently carrying, and that includes the one sitting on the table nine inches from my right hand, is secure since it is directly in my sight and under my supervision.

I can take almost any sentence out of context by itself and turn it into a debate. I never said that firearms shouldn't be secured at all times, but secured also means that you have it under your control, not necessarily locked in a box where you will probably die before you can get it into play if someone invades your home.

You are right I should have commented more, For example My dad is weak(from many years of cancer and related illnesses)and getting old My youngest brother still lives at home(23) because he has some mental illness mostly violent fits of rage over seemingly nothing. My dad use to keep a .32mag in his pocket all the time. Until one day my brother exploded again and started fighting with dad. My brother basicaly disarmed my dad then took the gun to the garage and beat it with a hammer until it is useless(part of his illness when he gets mad he will try to take somthing from you and destroy it). So after that dad keeps all of his guns locked up. The gun was in his control until he got beat up and had it taken away.

So that is why I say that that might not be true for every one.

My gun is always on me or within arms reach. Anyone who is serious about self-preservation would have their gun within reach! There are over 2 million home invasions every year. In a 10 year period that makes a total of over 20 million home invasions. What are your chances of a home invasion?

There are over 2 million home invasions every year.
Where did that information come from? Not busting on you just interested in how they figured that.

Are they calling a home invasion a simple break in while the occupant is home? Or is it a full on violent crash the door and assault the whole house? There is a distinct diffrence between the two to me.

Side arm is either on me or within reach. Theres a couple of 870's in different parts of the house. All get secured if we leave for any length of time or when the grand kids come over.
