How desirable is this gun?

From my own personal point of view I will never buy anything that says "Made in China" if there's another option. Even if that option costs twice as much.:cuss:

It's pretty, though.

I'm with SADDL and TS. If I can avoid it, I don't buy Chinese ANTHING. Unfortunately, that is getting damn hard to do....

Not saying the gun is bad quality, but I give it a 0. I will have a 1911, but I will never buy a Chinese weapon, especially not norinco. I trust them about as far as I can throw a crate of Chinese weapons delivered to terrorist groups in North Africa and sent to Iraq.

Ditto to retgarr.

I'm not being a snob. It very well might be just as good or even better than any other. But honestly, I don't buy "made in China" guns, or for that matter anything else if there is another option. It's probably a great gun and I hope you enjoy it, and outshoot many people with more expensive guns. And most importantly, I hope you only ever use it for pleasure.

I just know that when I get a 1911, it'll be a Springfield Mil-Spec (unless my budget is more forgiving in the future than it is right now. In which case, springer loaded here I come!!!). Heck, I'd rather buy the Taurus than a Norc.

You said it, Retgarr. Not to gang up on the OP (whose decision to buy what is a pretty sharp-looking, and probably totally functional weapon, was almost certainly not politically motivated), but Norinco is a company directly related to the PRC military. If you care what happens to the Darfuris in Sudan, the Tibetans, or our troops who will inevitably have to fight the People's Liberation Army (to say nothing of meeting their weapons on the battlefields of Iraq, Afghanistan, and wherever's next) Norinco is an easy choice on my "companies to boycott list." Buy American. Or German. Or Austrian. Or Italian. Or Czech. Or Swiss. Or Bulgarian. Or Croatian. Or... you get the idea.

Well Norinco is no longer an Army controlled company. However they are Chinese Gov't controlled and that isn't exactly much of an improvement. Their new manufacture AK's still end up in Iraq pointed at our guys.

I'd give this one a 10. I'll still have it long after my PRO, Browns (3), Valtro ect are sold off.

Short on cash?

FWIW - it doesn't appeal to me, so it'd be a bolo, but then, I'm sure some of my pieces would have no appeal to others either.

I have no problems buying a Norinco 1911a1 and recently did. Remember if bought in the USA, a Norinco 1911a1 results in ZERO moeny going to the PRC.

If I didn't buy PRC products here and there I'd probably have to walk around semi naked.

I miss the days of cheap Chinese Makarovs and ammo and such.

I'd give it a three, with that being dependent on the price. It looks kind of ugly with the olive drab finish. And that plastic shoe hanging off the bottom of the magazine looks ugly on a 1911.

Since I already have a stainless series-80 Colt Gov't. purchased in the late eighties....'bout a Zeeero!

In addition, I too, want nothing from China/Norinco in the least...drops it to a -5.

Nothing personal against the OP, it is his and if he likes it then more power to him, just not something that I can sustain any interest in.

Buying a Norinco now in no way supports China, its military, or its economy since none have been imported in over 10 years.

I happen to enjoy my Norinco 1911 model. I got it three years ago when I was in college and it was the only handgun I could afford.
