My range bag has a mag carrier in a seperate pouch. The damage they see in teh bag is nothing compared to the abuse they get during a match. They get dropped on concrete, gravel and dirt; they get kicked, stepped on and thrown about. They are consumables- replace as necessary.
How do you protect spare magazines in your range bag?

My socks usually wear out by the heel. Since I'm a heel.
I have puh-lenty of old socks. Now I need more magazines to fill 'em. I also use socks to store spare eyeglasses.
A long time ago I quit buying cases for my least-used guns and started making my own out of canvas --long guns, too. One beauty of this method is that if you're looking for a particular weapon, you can feel through the material to determine which one it is. (I don't put labels on the actual cases --I switch them around too much.) Not that I can't afford cases, but they are pretty bulky. This way I can just put the canvas-cased gun in the box 'o guns, with all the other lesser-used arms.
Here's one I made for small autos --and it has its own mag pouch, which is closed when you fold over the top and tie it off.
The tie-off is a shoelace sewn into the top edge of the case.
Socks are handy-dandy darned things. I cut the toe portion off one and snipped a little hole for my thumb and I now use it on my mouse hand on those cold nights when I'm cursoring around the computer a lot.
