How does everyone here feel about their Kel-Tec pistols?

Hmmm.... Single stack 9mm from KT... interesting. I think I'll drive over to the factory tomorrow and see if Marty can shed any light to this rumor. I want him to check out the .32NAA top end on my first generation P-3AT anyway. Everything is running smoothly, but I like to have him check things over periodically.

This is not intended to start a flame war...

Yet you continually drop negative comments about the KT boards, at which, as I understand it, "ScottD" is now personna non grata. :uhoh:

I have had excellent results with KT's products, though some people have found their pistols needed a few minors adjustments, and tweaks to be perfect.

Most of those adjustments and tweaks have been discovered and shared by posters at the KT only sites. In fact some of those mods have been incorporated into the latest production models (ramp relief cut on the P-3AT), or offered as accessories (mag spacers for the P-32) by Kel-Tec themselves.

Great guns, IMO... and none of mine are for sale.

ScottD,
Welcome to The High Road. :)

I own two P-32's, a P-11, two P-40's, and two first generation P-3AT's. I did a minor fluff and buff on all of them before shooting them for the first time. The only problems I had with the P-3AT's were they needed a little breaking in at the first range session before they would cycle smoothly. After the first box of ammo they performed flawlessly. P-11 (for sale/trade elsewhere) occationally FTFire (about three times) until I noticed the extractor extended WAY OUT in front of the breechface and was badly gouging the case-side of the extractor groove. Took it out, relieved it a bit, and it's been 100% ever since.

Love it, though it's not very accurate. I've been spoiled, and can shoot better than 3 inches at 25 yards IF THE GUN/AMMO can.

I ordered a second P-32 this week. I love them I got the first one for my wife to carry and now I want one for my front pocket. As far as negative comments about the Kel-Tec boards Ktog is pretty good, Ktrabge has a Political board but you can only say nice things about the GOP no free debate. (and I'm die hard conservative but I don't agree with them 100 percent of the time)

I spent a whole year and $1,000 trying to make a P-11 and a P-32 reliable, according to my standards.

I failed.

These POS are unreliable.

I know I will offend many.

Frankly, I don't care.

If I can save a least one man's life, by warning him not to rely on these inferior crapola POS,

Frankly, that's worth it.

Next question?

I have a P-11 and a P3AT that I carry. Each has been fired about 400 rounds without any problems. Definitely not target guns, but they are easy to carry concealed.

If anyone would like the truth about what GlenJ is referring to in the above quote they can go to KTrange politics thread to see for themselves. Free expression of opinions is not restricted. The rule violated was
5. This is a gun board. If you do not regularly post on our firearms discussion forums you will be asked to find another place to talk about your politics. Do not post on the politics forum until after you have said hello and talked a little about your guns.

KTrange is an excellent resource for Kel-Tec owners. Rick

my advice would be if you want to talk politics, go to a POLITICAL forum. Why would you want to come to a gun forum and talk about politics? Have you been banned from all the internet political forums and now have resulted to going into any internet forum that comes up on the web browser? Try going into a Democrat political forum and trying to talk about how great Kel-Tec pistols are and see what kind of response that you get. You people kill me! If nothing else you provide a constant source of entertainment for the gun boards when we have run out of things to talk about.

Thank you

I'm with Texian Pistolero. I've owned five of the small Kel-Tecs (three P-32's and two P3AT's) and a P-11, and not one of them would shoot 200 rounds of carry ammo without a failure somewhere in the string. Since this is my minimum acceptable standard for any gun I may have to use to defend my life, I no longer own any Kel-Tec handguns. I wish they were better, as the size and weight are superb for deep-concealment pieces: but until they're more reliable, they're off my list.

Now, the carbines (5.56mm.) are a completely different story - accurate and reliable, in my experience. Why can't Kel-Tec do the same to their handguns? :fire:

I like my P32 fine. My comment about the P32 to a friend of mine was an honest, "Every thing about this gun screams cheap!" Didn't matter to me as long as it did what I bought it for. This it has done reliably for the 2-300 rounds I have owned it. My friend told me when he first saw one, "You're right, it does scream cheap." He bought one too and is as happy with it as I.

I've owned 7 Kel Tecs, 2 new, early P-32s, 2 new, early P-3ATs, 2 used P-11s and a used Sub-9 carbine. All had to go back to the factory at least once, some made 2 or 3 trips. The P-3ATs were the most trouble.

I currently own only a nickel plated P-32. It shoots well but is pretty much a "safe queen" now. My job situation has changed and I carry an S&W J frame in the pocket. The P-32 is there if I ever need "ulitmate concelment". (Just read a story of a guy who tried to commit suicide with a .32. He shot himself in the head 3 or 4 times and survived.)

I've got a .380 now that belongs to a lady student. Probably 300 rounds thru it total, not been cleaned yet. It jams on her every time after the first shot, despite coaching on grip and not limp-writisting. Needless to say, she's ready to dump it and go back to 5-shot revolver.

The thing runs fine for me and another lady who shot it last Monday ... She's gonna talk to hubby about possible purchase - and, if so, let me teach her how to clean it. (Same lady also owns a 5-shot .357.)

Many featherweight Kel-Tec mouseguns will not function properly if not cleaned on regular basis, especially if limpwristed. Another, crutch that can benefit most shooters of mouseguns, is a finger extension, like below. I clean after each range session or 50 rounds, whichever comes first, just to be sure.

Those not able or knowledgeable enough to perform this task would be better off with a larger heavier pistol or better yet, a revolver.

Texian Pistolero,
Sorry to hear about your bad experiences, but how in the heck did you spend $1000 trying to fix a P11 and a P32? That's a LOT of shipping and parts!
-ScottD

Well.. for once we agree. It would be nearly impossible to spend $1000 getting these guns fixed so his story is highly unbelieveable.

WILSON,
I see that you have a new style and the old style KT. Which one do you like the best? Any real advantage to the new design?

P-32

Great gun! I have 1200 rds thru mine - no jams/FTE/FTF - no rimlock.

For a summer mousegun, I have no qualms about carrying it and it getting me out of all but the worst of situations.

I had a P11 for 3 days. Bought it from my Grandma so she could get her wheelgun. Fired 10 rounds from it and sold it to my dad for $125. He got a good deal considering the gun now has 17 rounds total through it.

Sorry I can’t be objective. I have a bunch of First Generation P-3AT and know them inside and out. My last three NIB FG P-3ATs were 100% out of the box. I also picked up two used hard-chromed FGs last month for pennies on the dollars, which I had 100% in less than two hour.

My Second Generation worked great the first range session (only 49 rounds) but it’s started to have hiccups the last two sessions. The chamber seems to need some polishing and when it gets a bit dirty I have failures to extract. Hopefully I’ll have time next week to take care of it, so it will fire with a reasonable amount of debris in the chamber.

Wilson, you're slipping up. You post a pic of 2 P3's and NEITHER is wearing an NAA extension? :what:

Pistolero, you've GOT to be kidding. Kel-tec has a lifetime warranty. For $1000 you could have shipped those two to Mars. Shucks, for a grand, you could have just bought 2 more of each.
