As the year gets into the last 1/4, I started thinking about my collection & how it has evolved...
As firearms go, I've sold off a shotgun
Picked up a Colt Python
Picked up another 1911

and discovered my favorite candy shop is back in business and I have a couple more months to get stuff before '07 :D

So, how has your hobby grown? :scrutiny:

Started the year off with my romanian ak47,

added a mossbergh 500, then a springfield xd 45, then a 1858 remington new army bp revolver, keltec p3at and finally a m1 rifle. I think im done for the year lol.

Started the year with a borrowed Ruger 9mm from my Father in Law so I could do my carry class.
Someone at the class had a P22, I had heard many times a .22 makes a good first handgun so I went out and bought one.
Then I became a US citizen and my FIL bought me a Taurus 24/7 .40 as a gift.
My wife bought me a Glock 34 for the same reason.
I paid a years membership at the range.
I started reading a lot of opinions and information here on this site.
Received my carry permit, carry the 24/7.
I bought myself a Para Ordnance Tac Four.

As the year slows down I find myself looking for a 9mm carry gun, heavily attracted to the Germans at this point. I also plan to spend the winter setting up my first reloading bench.

Next year?
.357 revolver, shotgun, a better .22 pistol...

First firearm(CZ 452 American, .22) will be here in a few weeks. :)
Planning to buy a combination of .204, .223, .243, 6.5swede and .308 next year if all goes well with the job applications. :)

I haven't sold ANY

Mistyped the length of the But I bought:
A T/C Encore frame
A 15" .223 Barrel for the Encore Frame
A nice Nikon Scope for the .223 barrel <--- Unparalled Accuracy
A .375JDJ 15" barrel for the T/C Encore "Ouch!"
A .45 Colt Blackhawk w/7.5" Barrel
A +P .38 Special Taurus M95 <-- I carry every day.
A Taurus 24/7 Pro <--- I like this gun a lot.
A vintage S&W model 19-3 in 100% perfect condition. Too pretty to shoot.
A taurus 44-Ten in 6.5" Stainless
A Thompson Center .22 Classic rifle <--- Dime sized groups at 100 yds.
A Mossberg 500 .12 Gauge shotgun with an 18.5" Barrel <--- Bubba
A 28" barrel for the Mossberg with all three choke tubes
A Rossi (Legacy Sports International) .45 Colt Lever Action rifle.

Next year I'm gonna go nuts and buy LOTS of guns.

this year i bought;
Kimber TLE/RL II first handgun, my 21st birthday present to myself.:D
Smith & Wesson 637 .38
and a tricked out Ruger Mini 14.
also traded my dad back my Browning BPS 12ga. for my first shotgun an Ithaca 20 ga. over-under. After about a box of shells and only one dove in my vest with the BPS, thought i should go back to the basics.

Just three years ago I only had three firearms, a single AR15, an HK USP and a Feather AT22. Now I have 27 firearms in my collection.

Over the last year alone I have added the following to my collection:

- Kimber Stainless Target II 10mm
- Glock 29 10mm
- Glock 27 .40S&W
- Kahr PM40 .40S&W
- Springfield "Loaded" 1911 .45acp

- Sig P245 .45acp
- DWM Luger 9mm

- Marlin 1895M .450 Marlin
- Interarms Mark X (w/ 4x-12x Redfield scope) 7mm Rem-Mag
- 9mm AR15 upper receiver on custom built lower.
- Mossberg 695 bolt action shotgun 12 gauge
- Winchester Defender 1300 shotgun 12 gauge

Firearms sold over past year:
- Taurus 850 .38spl listed above (sold to buy HK91 above)
- HK G3 Clone .308 (sold to buy HK91 above)
- AMT Backup .45acp (sold to buy HK91 above)

Additional gun related expenses/investments:
- I put together a reloading setup that I use regularly for 500 S&W and 10mm and have a die set for .308 just in case I decide I want to start reloading it.
- I also have collected around four thousands of rounds of mil-surp ammo in .223 and .308 for future use.

I own less firearms and firearm related stuff than I ever have in my life.

My hobby I suppose is passing forward as passed to me. In that respect, my hobby grew this year.

Well, my hobby isnt that old. I just turned 20.

When I was 17 my father bought his first gun ever to give us somthing to do together. We saw .22 target shooting on ESPN and thought it looked fun. We got a Ruger 10/22.

Since then, I have been hooked! :what:

When I turned 18 I bought a Saiga 7.62x39
Later that year I bought a Mosin M38.

When my friend moved off to college and had to sell his only gun, I bought his Norinco SKS off him for $100 cash. After a few trips to the range with this I sold my Saiga for a profit, because this was before they were being imported again.

I do not regret this. I did not want to make my saiga into a "real" AK and as it was, the SKS was a better SHTF rifle. Just as accurate as the Saiga, same mag cap. I had 100 clips for it, but only 4 mags for the Saiga, as they were like $30 a pop. Don't regret it.

Last year I bought a Remington 870 police magnum for HD, as I had moved out on my own for college.

I also bought a Marlin 981t bolt .22, because my dad still goes to the range occasionaly when I am in San Antone at school, so I needed a .22 and didnt want to steal his. I like that gun. Sort of wish I would have sprung for the CZ, but I cant complain about the tube-fed Marlin.

I got a K-31 from my parents for my 19th birthday. I dont need to tell you guys about what a great rifle this is.

I am currently building my first AR-15. I have the bottom half done, and its great fun.

As for the other aspect of my hobby.

In the last 2 years, I have gone to the range every week, more or less.

I have turned at least 10 people pro-gun for sure.

I have joined the NRA.

I plan to get my CHL next year.

I am very interested in getting into competitive shooting sports. Still working on that.

So how am I doing?

My wife and I started shooting this past March.
First purchase was a Glock 22, S&W M&P .40, and a S&W 686 Plus.
Then a Glock 19, CZ SP-01, Kimber Raptor II, which were quickly followed by a Pro Raptor and and Ultra Raptor. Next up was a S&W 638 and two 4" SA XD 45's. Picked up a Para Hawg 9 yesterday. We shoot and love 'em all.
We've also acquired 3 shotguns(we're giving one to our son) and 5 rifles including an AR-10 and AR-15. Next up will be a couple of 22's just 'cause :D

how has your hobby grown?
I don't have any Falcons...:neener:...or do you mean my firearms addiction?

Got my C&R in June and it's been downhill ever since. Between the discounts and getting firearms shipped straight to the house

I started off '06 with the intent of not buying any more guns or gun related
items, as I thought I had everything that anyone could possibly need. Boy,
was I wrong~! Added a NIB Springfield Armory MIL SPEC, a NIB Les
Baer Thunder Ranch 1911, a NIB Smith & Wesson 1911, a very slightly used
3rd series Colt Agent, and a new Liberty Colonial Series safe.

Update: Gone are a 5" Kimber Raptor II, a 2.5" S&W model 19,
and a S&W model 6906 9m/m. All used as trade towards the
Les Baer gun~!

Now, all I need is a pristine nickel S&W model 39-2, and blued model 19
in the same condition.;) :D

Bro Dan - it's much harder to be content when you work in the candy store & see everything that comes through the doors! :neener:

My hobby has evolved. This year I reduced my handgun count somewhat, and traded a couple of rifles. I'm pretty content with what I have WRT hunting, plinking, CCW, etc. I'm looking to spend more time shooting what I have instead of adding to the collection.

With that in mind, I picked up some reloading equipment this year and am planning to start working on that this winter. I also picked up my first milsurp rifle that I want to completely refinish.

So the hobby continues, but less in terms of new acquisition.

Guns purchased: 1 spring-powered airsoft 1911 copy; CMP Garand in the works.

guns sold: 1 CAI M1 Garand

rounds fired: 0 :cuss:

RKBA activity: increasing (Anything else I can do for ya, Steve? )

Gunnies assisted: At least one (Hey Fitz: got a range report from Grumpaw yet?)

Talked with Pax about What Women want RE: CCW equipment/issues/stuff

Wrote Congresscritters about various RKBA issues.

Well, this year I made all my initial purchases: Beretta 96FS, HK USP Tatical, Springfield XD45 Tatical, Kimber Ultra Carry II, and HK P2000 SK.

At this stage of the game, my hobby is moving more towards accessorizing. I just ordered a Streamlight M6X and will use that on the Beretta or Springfield for the house. I'll also be looking to pick-up a shoulder holster for the Kimber and an IWB holster for the P2000SK.

At that point, I probably will look to add at least two more handguns to the armory. I'd like to pick up a fullsize 1911 to tinker with and a subcompact in a .45. After that...I'll get into long guns... :what:

This year I got a Kimber Ultra, SKS, M38 and S&W 642.

Nov 7, I'm getting an AK-47 to celebrate voting and a decent .22 plinker pistol to drive costs down a little.

Xmas I think I'm going to get myself some reloading equipment.

Somewhere in there I have to get a ring for my girlfriend.

I also got my C&R and CCW permit this year. Helped educate the probate judge on the law regarding permit issuance. Tried to represent the cause as best I can.

"Back in the day" it wasn't a hobby. I grew up on a farm and all the firearms were serious tools. Oh sure we'd have some fun with them once in a while but not usually.

Then I was an LEO. Still not a hobby (still fun at the range and such, but definitely NOT a hobby).

Left LEO work to start a business in the computer field. Sold all but one revolver because I never went to the range or anything.

Fast forward about 16 years... Friend got me interested in Cowboy Action Shooting. Before you know it I have 2 revolvers, a carbine, a SxS shotgun. Well that gets me going again about other stuff and next thing you know I have a .22 LR rifle and a Springfield XD-40 service.

My want list pretty much consists of an XD-40 compact, a Ruger MK III bull barrel, a Remington 7600, and at least one "thumper" (probably a Marlin 1895 "guide" gun in .45/70).

Really that's it. I guess I'm pretty much a lightweight compared to most here.

It's been a tough financial summer, so not too much. Traded a C&W OLD Model 60 for a Model 38 Airweight Bodyguard of about the same era (early 70's).

Put a 50 % down payment on a Kel Tec PF9, which as everyone knows, has not shipped yet.

Now I'm hopefully going to trade a Colt pony Pocketlite for a S&W 340pd.

That's about it. Took my son shooting a lot, he tried his first handgun this summer, so it grew in that way too.

This year I picked up two milsurps I've always wanted: A M39 Finnish Mosin and a M95 Steyr carbine. Bought an ugly plastic Tikka T3 Lite 30-06 because I decided I needed rugged, no-nonsense "huntin gun". Then I reunited with an old friend when I bought a very nice '75 vintage Marlin 336 30-30. That's a net gain of only two guns, since I also sold two guns this year.

Mine has grown to the point I am feeling guilty about not replacing the dishwasher, wash machine, and dryer all of which I hate and don't function as well as I would like.

I guess as long as I feel good about it, dirty clothes and dishes won't bother me.:D
