How is this legal?

Theo,

And USAF-Vet!
No problem, though.

I think he was technically right in post 51, I think technically you could build a normal AR completely less the stock, call it a pistol, then feel free to add the stock and remove it as you see fit. I however would not play that game. I would build a pistol with a short upper to christen the receiver as a pistol. It doesn't bother me in the least to use a normal carbine buffer tube to do that.

IANAL, but jerkface's way seems like it's a little susceptible to interpretation by a prosecutor, for example.

I have two form 1 cans based off SDTactical solvent traps. I followed the letter of the law (for that day :banghead:) and could not be happier. My 30 cal lives on an AR that I shoot 3 gun with, while my Specwar sits on the shelf waiting for a host. I have under $400 into my 30 cal including the stamp. The 45 might be closer to $500 including stamp as it required a booster.

I have pistol parts so I build everything as a pistol and take multiple pictures before it gets turned into anything else. All my rifles and SBR's started life as pistols. How handy.
