How long did it take for your Concealed Carry License to come in?

kashton,
You still haven't said where you live so someone could at least tell you what the normal time is for where you live.

As for me, it took around 15 to 20 minutes.

9 days in Columbus, Ohio. Ohio law allows you to submit the application in any county adjacent to that of your residence. I live in a county with a large population (Franklin county) and a police department that isn't exactly friendly regarding the permit process. Madison county, all of 10 minute drive away, has a much friendlier atmosphere.

When I got mine, I had to take the CCW class first and then apply for it. I finished the class and the next day I went up to the Police Headquarters to apply and they told me it will take 2-3 weeks to finish the background investigation, then a letter will be mailed to you stating the disposition. I received a letter in the mail 2 days later stating I've been approved. I went to pick up my license and asked(after they signed-off "effective immediately" on that present day) how long does the background investigation take. The clerk said 2-3 weeks!

I don't know how my license got approved so fast!

I had to apply for an emergency permit so it was rushed through. I was told it could take up to four months. But I had mine in less then a month. (Also I had no interview with the gun board which I hear is very common..... but the people on the gun board already knew me as I work with criminals and had consulted with them as an expert on occassion.)

Well, I screwed up my last post. Actually took 7 weeks, 2 days in MI from the time I got fingerprinted, which was about 2 and a half weeks after turning in my application

in MN, Hennepin County, 29 days.

And, if I decode the permit number correctly, they issued 2,194 permits so far this year--or possibly, 2,194 in July alone.

The rush is over, but the Civil Service perfunctory in the office told me it would still take the mandated 30 days.

How do I check the status of my CCW license? I am in Houston, Texas

If they have received your application, they may have sent you a notice about where you can check the status online. You can also call Texas DPS (or email, I'm sure) for the same info. More than likely they will tell you something similar to "Processing application."

Contact Info below:
  1. Online: Click here
  2. Email: [email protected]
  3. Phone: 1-800-224-5744 (I think that's the one)

I just got mine last Saturday. It took exactly 90 days just like our local DPS said it would.
It's ironic that to get a CCW we have to complete 15 hours of class + range qualifying, fingerprints, background check and $100.00 to DPS. But anyone can open carry without having to meet any of these criteria.

CZ 75 BD, dontcha just live Alabama? My CCW permit (in Blount County) is $10.00 but next year they are going to $20.00. I hate having to pay for and get a permit to exercise a RIGHT but compared to what others on this forum have to go through,I can't complain!

I just got a letter in the mail on thursday telling me how to check the status. It has been about 3-4 weeks now. It says 'processing application' online. How long do you think it will be... I can't wait for it lol. It's taking so long it seems

took my CCDW course on 12/2/06, had a certificate to take to my county sheriff on the 23rd, rec'd the lic a month later. 3mo later moved and informed the dept of chg of addy and had a new lic in a couple weeks.

what's the step after 'processiong application'? It says that when I logged in and checked the status... it seems like it's taking forever

In Allegheny County, PA, my wife & I both got ours in about 20 minutes. Rumor has it that the new sheriff takes the entire 45 days allowed to issue the licenses.
