How many magazines are enough?

Do you think you are going to win a gun fight that will continue beyond twenty rounds?
If so in what scenario excluding alien invasion/Zombies?

Two to three 20 round magazines are all one needs realistically.
Even in a WWIII scenario excluding red-dawn as a civie.. My .000000000000000002 cents...

I think the number 10 feels good for each gun at least as a goal. Some spare parts might also be in order and now has my attention. I haven't started to hoard non HiCaps yet and probably won't.

Agreed you are way in deep if you "need" 10 mags and 300 rounds. But just cause you may only need one or two mags in a fight you may decide to compete one day and that can be hard on mags. As with most things prices won't go down in ten years.

But you can rapidly reload (in a couple seconds) your empty AR magazines with your rounds on stripper clips. They're a lot less bulky to carry.

Duke, true but I was referring to available mags being lost, dropped or damaged. I keep quite a bit of ammo repacked in bandoleers just for the purpose you mentioned. Bill

Ten mags for an AR is really not all that many. AR mags do wear out and get damaged.

The more you use them, the more wear they receive, and the more heavy duty training you do with them, the more likely they are to become damaged beyond use.

Remember, you may need to have ALL the mags you will ever have for that rifle, for the rest of your life, before any new ban takes place.

If that happens, 10 mags for an AR isn't going to seem like that many. I bet there are guys in California who wish they would have bought mroe then 10 AR mags back when they still could.

To carry? 4 30's or 20's if I'm lugging them.

At the range, as many as you can, load at home, shoot at the range.

Enough, there's no such thing. As many as you can. That way you can trade 2 AR Mags to your buddy for 1000 rds of 9mm.

Of course you have to make sure you have enough for all your guns.
