My friend here is pretty pro-gun, but she had no idea when I called her from work at 10 this morning for the news:

My freind (on the phone): "What up?"

Me: 'What up?' What up?!' History is happening TODAY, and I am TRAPPED and unable to witness it, THAT'S what is UP!!!!!
:cuss:

NONE of my co-workers knew what "Heller" WAS, and what was going on - and they're mostly 'pro,' but a few 'neutral-to-anti.'

NONE.

:banghead:

I feel the need to broadcast that Pepsi Max "WAKE UP PEOPLE" commercial to EVERYONE I KNOW!

Jeez, tell me I AM alone on this, that the rest of you have better-informed coworkers and friends and family!

I actually had four co-workers "inform" me of the ruling (of course I saw the scotusblog live). The news in Chicago is all over it because Chicago's ban is next on the hit list.

I feel your pain, I have a buddy (pro-gun) that also didn’t know what went on this morning and the impact that it has.

It's really just...SAD, y'know!

We won a great victory today, we COULD have suffered a great defeat today - and countless people would not have even noticed!!!

! A LOT ! <-- yes I'm yelling...

So many natural born citizens are overly apathetic to their rights it is amazing as someone like me who only has temporary rights until I become a US citizen.

Most didn't know, but it was generally what I expected. I was actually pleasantly surprised by a couple that saw a blurb before the ruling and reasoned aloud that "it's only fair if the ban is struck down, since the bad guys are going to have guns either way." Made me smile.

the gal running the local gunshop (owners wife) didn't know.
course I think she don't really enjoy working there, that much. JMHO

I live in a rural area of a western state and I would be willing to bet I would have to hunt to find anyone who even knows what Heller and the Supreme Court was or is. Unless it is a pocketbook issue, it doesn't make a difference.

If a lawsuit were pending to end welfare, food stamps, or changing rules on retirement or SSDI, believe me, they would know and have a STRONG opinion.

Guns? Nope.

Most of my friends are liberal anti's but all my close friends knew about the court case. My girlfriend works at Cabela's and she actually called me asking if I had heard the news. People at that store were just giddy with excitement from the good news.

She said that ammo sales were at an all-time high today. :)

I mentioned it in a previous thread, NO ONE at my work had any idea about what I was talking about.

When I explain what was going on most just kind of shook their heads.

Here's the kicker, 90% of these people own and shoot guns.....

No one at my work knew today was a great day for the Bill of Rights and the American people.

I was in the presence of attorneys all day, and out of cell phone range. The attorneys all knew.

And I missed...

10 text messages about the decision
5 calls from politicians about the decision
1 call requesting an on-camera interview about the decision
20 emails about the decision.

WHAT A DAY TO HAVE MISSED COMPLETELY.

:banghead:

Went into Work Today, Heard the decision while waiting for morning accountability(Marine), by the time I got there, 4 people of about 50 knew...3 were Texans.

I'm even a tad saddened that so far, no one's chimed in about many ANTIS that were even following it...!

Then again, the way Helmke was throwing in the towel before it was official, I still think he had an "inside man" that leaked it to him, so they KNEW not to get their "collective right" hopes up! ;)

All of my colleagues had no clue. Even one of my co-workers who is hunter did not know about it. What a shame!
