Started hand loading about 7years ago for pistol. Have reloaded shotgun for 40 years.
Funny thing is, I only have 3 different powders for shotgun. Clays or Claydot, Universal and Alliant 20\28. Never saw a need to have anything else on hand. prior to buying some 20\28, it was pretty much just 2. One for 12 and one for 28.
Now, with pistol I find myself buying different powders to experiment with. It seemed like every time I went into the LGS I found myself coming home with a pound of something. Went into the LGS on Saturday and bought the 800X. {It was all he had.}
Currently I have W231, Power pistol, Tightgroup, SR7625, SR4756, WSF, 800X, Greendot and American Select.
I had some American Select when I started loading pistol. Found a recipe I like for 45acp and pretty much that's all I load for it. But the 9mm, 40S&W and 38spl, I'm constantly trying different bullets and powders.
I have pet loads for shotgun and 45 and rarely ever change, everything else I'm always tinkering.
