I'm trying to muster up the discipline to save up about $2000 for a gun/guns. Help me think of some ways to spend it. I'm thinking either one SUPER nice gun or two nice guns. I'm not really interested in suggestions like "Buy a Mosin Nagant and spend the rest on ammo". I'm thinking something seriously unique and cool. But not something that will be too nice to shoot or something that shooting will hurt the collector value. Since my gun fund has never seen $2000 at one time, I'm not familiar with what the options are in that price range. So help me out here. Rifle and/or pistol!

If I had $2K to dump right now, the first thing I'd go for is a Benelli M4 and more mags as well as a better sight for my Saiga .308. I'd be all set then!

Nothing screams your criteria like a decent AR-10 with good glass and a nice stock and bipod. Then start slammin the 500 steel targets!

Edit: after thinking about it, I wouldn't buy a Benelli. I really don't need a $1400 shotgun... I'd be jumping on the AR-10 bus...

I would pay it on light bill as far as it would go..........:scrutiny:

No really ......... Another Colt LE6920 Probably and a lot of ammo! :D

An AR-15 in 458 SOCOM with a Nikon 3x9x40 and a couple hundred rounds of ammo. Plus an OD Glock 20 if I could find one, and a couple hundred rounds for it. Unique enough and won't break the bank, plus I could use both for hunting.

As far as spending 2 grand on guns, I would have to go with two er shaw mkVII rifles. One in matte stainless with a pepper stock in 17 fireball with a 22" barrel, the other in 8x57 mauser with a 22" matte stainless barrelled action in a nutmeg laminate stock, both would have helical fluting and wear leupold scopes.

I would get a SAKO 85 Hunter in 30-06 with a Zeiss Conquest 3-9x40.

That's always been my dream setup.

Those Kriss Vectors are very cool looking. I have no idea what they cost, but is it possible to do a full auto and a short barrel for $2k?

Is it possible to do any kind of other full auto for $2k or am I just dreaming?

A bone stock kriss is about 1700, fully kitted out, an other 1k.

4500 is about the low amount for full auto fun.

Figured I was just dreaming on the full auto. But having one that's not full auto would seem like buying a new Camaro with a V-6. I'd want the muscle!

I will keep looking I think.

I must be misunderstanding something here. I thought that anything full auto from after 1986 was illegal, unless for military or police use.

Unless, of course, you aren't from the U.S.

You want to be able to look at it, handle it, shoot it, maybe re-sell it someday...

Colt Python.

I don't happen to own one at the moment, but I have owned one in the past. Held its value, shoots where it is supposed to, and you can re-sell it in a flash if you must. I had to. Stuff happens.

Hmm... $2000.
Well, honestly right now I'd buy an Orange Thunderverb 200W, but I'd still have to add about a grand (guitarists should know this).

But for just gun stuff, I'd say the Saiga 7.62x39 I've been planning for a while. That would come to around $1200, so I'd have $800 left. With that I'd either build an AR or just get ammo for the rest of the toys.

DMR fun: M1A with an optic and couple spare 20rd mags.

Cowboy Set-Up: 2 New Vaqueros, Henry Big Boy and Stoeger Coach Gun.

Shooting tastes vary so much that without giving some indication as to what you're into, this question's answers will be of little value to you.

That said, for the past year or so I've been getting more and more into USPSA, and I've been wanting to move from Production division to Limited, so if I had $2000 to spend on a gun I'd get an STI 2011 based gun setup for Limited (.40S&W, Magwell, etc):

Thats how I know this is the high road. Nobody said "hookers and blow.". Hahah.

     True !

OP : What are some "holes" if you will, in your current collection ?

We could recommend stuff till we're blue in the face, but we might be duplicating, or going far from your desires....

Not that anyone "NEEDS" anything in this fashion...but what are you looking to do with this acquisition ? Or just lookin to blow $2k on arms and ammo ?

I mean, realistically... You could purchase a Glock handgun, A Mossberg Shotgun, and a decent savage Bolt-action with glass....and still have room to spare for cans of rounds.

Whatcha missin ? Pistol....semi-auto....big bore.... precision smallbore with glass ?

If I had to chose ONE with that budget, knowing my own stock, I'd go with a reasonably priced NEW M1A, and a bag of mags... Anything leftover I'd pitch into quality Projos and powder

I always wanted a Semi auto version of the German MG42 belt fed 8mm.
Of couse a 8ga double barrel muzzle loader would be fun.
