How would you spend $2000?

If bulk ammo prices are a factor, you could buy an SKS, add a $70 aperture sight (with a much better sight distance), and still buy about 5,000 rds. of non-corrosive ammo.
This is now my favorite rifle, in spite of the very nice Service Grade Garand from the CMP etc.

If you reload, maybe a Garand plus lots of M2 Ball ammo?
If your tastes are likely to quickly change, then you might wait quite a while before making the decision, but months Before the November election might be necessary to avoid an inflated price with a private sale.

Make that three people. Though I'm holding out for a 9mm carbine version. Whatever, the coolest thing and most novel thinking I've seen in a long time.

this. I thought I was the only person wanting one of these.

If the Tavor in 5.56 semi makes it out this year, I really would like on of those. Else a SCAR Heavy (yea, I'll have to kick in another $800) would do.
Geez, I'm up to three. That's either a sign of indecision or severe greed.

Sig 1911 C3.
Dillon 550 with .45 dies (I already own 9mm)
5 extra 1911 mags
3 extra mags for my Mark iii
3 extra mags for my SR9

Remainder spent on the following:

Order from Powder Valley

small pistol primers
large pistol primers
w-231
Zero bullets for .45

For me,I'd get a new Ruger Mini-14 and a new Mini-30 plus a case of WW white box ammo for each. It might be cutting $2000 pretty close but I'd go for it!

I know this isn't what you want to hear, butI d save it to buy myself some land where I can shoot and raise cows. Especially if there was nothing I really felt like I had to have

Don't let my thread peter out! I still haven't found a winner yet.

The $2K represents a lot of hard work and time on my part and I'd really like to buy one gun with the whole amount. Now that can be one pistol or one rifle/scope combo. I want something tangible that I can put my hands on and remember all the hard work that the gun represents. Ammo gets burned up and when it's gone it's gone. I want something that's going to be around for a long time that will always have that meaning attached to it. But the kicker is that it can't be so nice that it just sits in the dark safe. I want something that I'm going to be able to shoot. I'm very particular about my guns, so I will always make sure it's taken care of. I just don't want something that is going to be ruined if I shoot it a lot. And I'd really like something that's not extremely common.

Hopefully this will help.

Down payment on a working DeLisle Carbine replica, or a Freedom Arms Octagonal-barreled .454.

Supposedly the guys at Calico Light Weapon Systems have some Einfields in their shop they can cut up, I didn't dare to ask price without having the money to give them on the spot.

At least the fellow from Calico was very fast to say they could make it, no hesitation whatsoever, I hope that holds true once i have the cash.

From your sig line, I'd say if it had to be one gun in that price range, make it a high-end 1911 - something in a Les Baer or Ed Brown - with a set of your own grips and a 1911 knife to match.

If I was in the US I would also go for that MP5.
Over here, I would probably get a Twinbow II with all the accessories or a very nice bolt .22 with good glass.

Gunsafe. With magazines (not the stuff you read) being expensive, along with optics and ammo too, you can't leave anything out anymore. Gone are the days when $100 would buy a case of bullets.

You really can't build a real nice AR with high quality optics on it and have enough left over for a real nice 1911.

If you are into 1911s you could get a relatively top shelf semi-custom 1911. Something just how you like it that you could be proud to own.

Agree you need over $2000 for an AR with an ACOG, or good scope. More like 2,500-3000.00. Same with 1911, High end starts at 2,500, except for a few Springfield models. Like Operators or Trp's. My facebook page is loaded,'Pun", with all the new Wilson Models. Your looking at 3,500 for the mid level wilson decked out proper. They just keep going up. It's easy to spend 5-6 thousand on a Wilson, the bottom prices are in the 2,500 range.
I would give up all my pistols for a few of those new Wilsons. Just keep my LCP for a pocket gun, "it works every time", and two or 3 wilsons would be fine. With my AR, which needs an ACOG, to really be "done". I would go for a lightweight professional 45, possiblly a spec ops 9 also, and a Bill Willson carry. Then my gun collection would be done.Of course a supressed SBR would also be very nice in full auto.
I could manage it, but the divorce would be really more expensive than the guns. Here is the link if you feel like drooling on easter,
