Hypothetical question....2 perps robbing a liquor store....

Hi Sleuth,

This is a friendly board so starting off and calling members here "sheeple" and such for not gunning-up a liquorstore holdup, is, in my eyes, not the right way to be accepted here. I like it here because we try to pass along responsible gun ownership and self-defence ideas. Egging people on to enter a gunfight isn't my idea of such.

If you have 26 years of LE experience, then you must know your facts about tunnelvision. Most agencies, military and SD classes train to be aware of this happenstance. If you don't suffer from it, then great, I have. You must also be aware of other LEOs executed during gunfights when BGs walked up to them from the side. Civilians buying a 6-pack or a loaf of bread probably aren't aware of it.

With 26 years of LE experience, perhaps you are better qualified to make a decision to shoot/don't shoot than most other members here. Hopefully you are an excellent shot under stress. Expecting everyone to have your street experience & skills and then deriding those who may not agree with you isn't my idea of responsible.

Having your city/precinct defend you from that $30 million civil suit must've felt good. What would you have done if you weren't a LEO and slapped with the costs?

You also mention in your posting that you and your wife come first, -well obviously. By making this statement, then you at least admit that you also have levels of importance in the value of human life.

No wonder our society is going down hill.

Some of you wouldn't help a complete stranger in a clear cut issue? You would let another person be harmed or killed if the BG was no intent on harming you?

God save us all when we think the risk of a lawsuit is too great to help someone out.

I would rather face a lawsuit or jury then to have on my conscious the fact I let a person be harmed or killed when I could have intervened...
