Picked up a G26 recently, with ghost ring sights. I'm waiting on funds for ghost ring night sights, a glock pin tool, a lone wolf ported barrel, a 3.5 connector (leaning towards the ghost rocket) and a refinish. I have a mag spacer (for my G19 mags to fit) and a grip plug on the way.

Wow, they don't come any uglier than that, especially as seen in the photo with the long mag. I sure hope that it lives up to Glock's reliability standards.

It does what it's supposed to do (more accurately than I'd have thought it would). I had 1 FTFeed with the 33rd mag, but that was my own fault. It eats everything I feed it, as fast as I can pull the trigger.

As far as ugly... yeah, I'll admit it's ugly, but I like the little beast.

Why a vote against the grip plug?

They are homely little buggers, but very good pistols. They are suprisingly accurate and fast shooters.

The Ghost Rocket is an excellent trigger and easily the best if you are looking to do a connector only, as the others (Scherer, LoneWolf, GlockOEM, etc) only lighten the pull but don't address the overtravel. With the Rocket, you can make the reset as short as you feel comfortable.

The only thing I don't quite get are the grip extensions. If you're going to run those, might as well just have gotten a G19. Plus, although it may feel pretty akward, I found I actually shoot just as well without them. But, YMMV.

Also, I have to ask...what is up with that rusty looking extractor? Is the gun shooting alright?

Different mags for different purposes... the 33rd mag is for nightstand and bad side of town duty, the G19 mag w/ extension is for OC around home or to have a reload in my pocket. EDC duty is the 10rd w/ +0 extension for CC. Also, the "hump" on the back of a G26 sits just right in my hand even with the extension... The G19 didn't fit my hand well enough and I tended to shoot quite high with it. This one is spot on.

The extractor isn't rusty, it's highly polished. The "rust" you see is the reflection of my hand lol.

I'm still curious as to why I shouldn't use a grip plug. I can't see a downside to using one.

Me too. I would like to know what's wrong with a grip plug? It's easily removed for cleaning if necessary, improves the "feel" for me and covers the stupid hole, almost as bad as the lock on a S&W. When I use my 23 it is also a mag guide, being normally a 1911 person it helps a little.

No I won't. At the worst I'll end up with a G19C (planning on this one anyway) and a .45ACP Glock. If I ever do end up with a full size glock, the first thing I'll be doing is chopping the grip down to compact or subcompact length. I have small hands, and I'm a 1911 guy primarily, so the Glock grip feels like a 2x4 to me. With some work, the smaller Glocks can be almost comfortable.

My primary reason for getting a Glock, however, has nothing to do with ergos, size, general "Glockiness", or anything else... I live in Florida... I'm tired of cleaning my 1911 every single day. Surface rust just appears in places even when you think you got oil on every single part.

I like the stippling! I'm a recent koolaid convert myself. Started at a 17, then a 19 and a 26.

I wouldn't worry about spacers. I have a stack of 17 and 19 mags that I run through my 26 when I shoot and it doesn't bother me to shoot without the spacer at all. That spacer may seem to feel better, but when you are running the gun, the regular up-sized mag works just fine and the spacer is just more junk to get in the way during mag changes or trying to make the mag fit your mag carriers IMO.

No need for a pin tool, either. Standard punches (or whatever happens to be laying on your work area for that matter....I typically use a bic pen to get it started and use my fingers to just pull them out) work just fine.

How do you like the ghost ring sights? And why do you like them better than other sights? I'm just curious because I've never tried them. I've been satisfied with my 10-8's or heinie's so I haven't thought about any other styles.

I'm with the other guy, too...I wanna know who stippled it.

I did the stippling myself (have done several Glocks, a couple S&Ws and a few Springfields, as well as one 2011 that a buddy of mine wanted done and various long guns with polymer furniture). Contact me via PM if you want something done.

As far as the ghost ring sights, they just line up perfect, faster than I can think about it. It's more natural to me, as well because they're closer to the AR sights I'm most used to and effective with.

I really only plan on the one spacer, to see the difference and if they're not useful for my purposes then it'll get sold, of course. My pockets are my mag pouches, so that's not a consideration.

You're right on the "other tools" working for the pins. For some reason I was thinking I needed "the Glock tool" lol.

I have a friend who is a diehard Xd fan...that is what he calls me when I let him come over to shoot lol.

My pockets are my mag pouches, so that's not a consideration.

There is a member here named possum that makes holsters and mag pouches. Try some of his mag carriers and you'll wonder why you ever used your pockets. I carry with a single and wear a sing and a double when I'm practicing. I'm a guy who absolutely detests wearing something on his belt, so I am picky over mag carriers.

I don't have an issue with the grip plugs on my Glocks. I use the ones that fit flush with the bottom of the grip. I did have a grip plug on a G30 that extended the back of the grip and that felt terrible. Completely destroyed the ergos for me. Wish I hadn't sold that pistol.

This^ The Glock is the first handgun I haven't minded sweating all over. And despite the corrosive salty abuse, it still looks the same as when I bought it (Maybe I'm doing too much sweating and not enough shooting).

They're just as fast on a pistol, and because they're designed with human physiology in mind (crazy optical theories that I know very little about), they're very effective.

I haven't had any problems finding the front sight, though I plan on replacing these with ghost ring night sights within the next week or so as soon as funds present themselves.

I shoot with both eyes open and with just my dominant eye open depending on the situation. In low light, high activity training or competition type situations I prefer shooting with both eyes open but if I'm just shooting paper, I find myself closing my non-dominant eye. I practice shooting both ways extensively.
