Those of you who are giving legal advice based on your vast number of hours watching Law & Order really should knock it off. Unless you are an attorney accepted into the CA bar, you are not qualified to give this guy legal advice beyond, GET AN ATTORNEY. In this thread alone there is so much crap it stinks. Many assumptions! This situation is unfortunate. It seems that the officers involved were very polite and conducted themselves in a professional manner. The only real issue here is did the obtain a legal warrant to search your backpack? Was a warrant required? I'll be interested to read the follow up.
