Ideal Conceal

I "get" it.

Not really less practical than a derringer - which in many cases is the ticket for some folks.

Has lazer sighting.

Prints like a phone or PDA.

The only down side would be that it must be un-folded to fire and almost MUST be fired if pulled out:

Miscreant: "Yeah, and give me that phone too!"

You: "It's not a phone, it's a pistol!"

Miscreant: "BS, now...."

I guess I'm having trouble once I'm past the basic concept, with envisioning the deployment scenarios.

I like the concepts of these types of pistols. I don't see them as a viable primary SD weapon though. Actually, pistols (or AOWs?) like this, the Double Tap, even more traditional derringers look to fill a niche more like the "Liberator" pistol of WWII. Something to get you in close so you can upgrade...For regular SD use, I see these filling an extremely small niche; I don't discount them as innovation is great for the firearms industry, but few will find them of use beyond a range-novelty.

No interest whatsoever

BTW, those DoubleTap derringers can be had for $180 now for someone with a little patience who waits for a sale.

For around that price (the price of this gimmick) I can have an LCP (seven rounds instead of two), a Taurus TCP or a Crap-Tec P3AT/P32.

Since this thread is open and mine asking a question about this device was shut down, let me propose a question; In South Carolina the general "rule of thumb" for law enforcement officers to determine if a firearm is concealed or not is if the officer can touch any part of your gun or holster without moving any of your clothing then it is not concealed. So if someone is openly carrying this gun in plain view or even partial view like a cellphone sticking up out of their pocket, in its folded up configuration, in a state that does not allow open carry, like SC, would that pass the smell test for a concealed weapon vs open carry?

I apologize if this is considered hijacking the thread but I tried posting just that question without success. Very curious to see what others think. This question intrigues me and depending on follow-up answers I might have more to add.

I should think that nearly every cary scenario... nearly, would imply a concealed scenario. So there's that.

Beyond that, I don't care if a guy has it hanging around his neck and swinging outside his clothing - configuration alone might imply concealment.

Touch-test not withstanding.

And I'll bet that the there isn't ammo made that won't fire from a DoubleTap, whereas there are a few types of ammo that a TCP won't cycle.

There were plans to come out with .380 ACP barrels for the DoubleTaps but I think that was predicated on them selling really well, and well...

they haven't :(

I think it depends on the wording of the law, and each state may be different.

The Illinois Firearms Concealed Carry Act says: "Concealed firearm means a loaded or unloaded handgun carried on or about a person completely or mostly concealed from view of the public" In Illinois if this thing were in plain view, you'd be in violation of the FCCA. Check the wording of the law for each state that you're curious about.

KelTec .380 or .32 ACP

Just curious, what do you have against the KelTec P3AT or P32 ?
Do you own or have owned one?
What problems were/are you having?
Thanks:)

The best gun is always the one you have with you. Most conceal carry folks don’t carry regularly because of the potential embarrassment should a co-worker, client or member of the public see their gun

I dont know about their "excuse", but I guarantee only a small portion of CCW holders actually do carry everyday.

Course I carry a dual sim phone just so I dont have to carry two phones, dang sure not gonna carry a fake phone..

I would assume nothing since the LCP is a copy...

I own a Kel-Tec P-32 and it's very reliable. Just a note, the Ruger LCP is almost a direct replica of the P3AT as in they copied it lol. I'm also at a loss as to why Kel-Tec pistols get no respect. I have a feeling many current gun buyers equate inexpensive with cheap, not so. My P-32 will fire anything I feed it and has done so for almost 8 years now.

Neat idea. I'm don't think it would be better than my LCP. I a pocket holster in my pocket,I can deploy and fire with in a micro second. No buttons to push. Of course,if you wear yoga pants I could see a benefit. No one would want me to wear yoga pants.
