If you completely lost all of your firearms what would you buy?

I'd buy a Glock 26, a .22 conversion kit and a metric ton of ammo for both barrels.
Then I'd try and buy back at least one snubby and my New Agent.

S&W Model 14, Model 17, 686, and pre-war Kit Gun
Kimber 8400 Classic .30-06
Anschutz 1700
Lyman Great Plains Rifle
Browning Superposed 20 gauge

It happened to me. Lightning hit my house while I was at work. Total loss.
Insurance paid most of it, though I was a little under-insured (as I bet most of us are, heed my bad example).
My dad said to look into surplus rifles since a person could buy a lot of them relatively cheaply.
That lead me into Mosins, Enfields, Mausers, M1 Carbines, M1 Garands etc. and a C&R license. Then that lead me into reloading to feed all those hungry mouths.
Now I'm in deeper than I ever was.
Doesn't exactly answer your question, though the first new gun I bought was a Kimber .45 Tactical Pro II.

a 870 HD shotgun would be first, then a couple1911s, then AR-15s with all the neat add ons,
and a few K rds for weapons,

My minimum (prolly wouldn't replace all.....got too many now)

Glock G26
Freedom Arms Model 83, 22lr/22wmr
Freedom Arms Model 83, .454/45 Colt
Colt Series 80

Mossberg 500, 20" hi-cap pump
Stoeger Uplander, SxS 12 ga

TC G2, .204, 22lr, 17m2
AR, 223
Win 70, 7mm mag
Savage FVSS, 22wmr

For a pistol, it'd be another Glock 23
For a .22, it'd probably be another Marlin 60
For a shotgun, I'd probably go the Benelli route
For a centerfire rifle, well, hmmm, I really like my RRA LAR 6.8

If I was completely reimbursed, I'd definitely get a glock, Remmy 870 wingmaster, AR-15, and a custom 1911

I’m underinsured so replacement is out; I guess some brand plastic .45acp and pocket .380 for carry, a 12 gauge and a .22cal and the rest would be spent on ammo.

I'd replace my small frame .38 with a small frame .357, seriously consider replacing my .40 cal Glocks with 9mm's, and maybe replace my 590A1 with a plain jane 500. Then I'd take whatever was left over and put it towards a CZ with good glass to replace the 10/22 that I sold off a few years ago.

You know, I used to fantasize along those lines.
Then my house burned. Due to the efforts of the fire department and my friends, most of my guns were recovered in good or at least salvageable condition - I am running them through the gunsmith shop now. Nearly everything else was lost; burnt, smoked, wet, or combinations, not to mention wear and tear on me. I try to avoid tempting fate again by such speculation.

First, .22 LR, a heap of Russian-made 7.62x39, then Prvi .303 ammo and Lee reloading gear.

Followed immed. by a .22 rifle, SKS and Lee-Enfield "Jungle Carbine". I never buy a gun without first having the affordable ammo.

Most of them I would just get exact (or better) replacements for, a couple I wouldn't bother with ( like the 2" 9 shot H&R .22, what in god's name was I thinking? ok I know, $25 nib OTD), and some I would just cry over; how could I ever replace Dad's Gold Cup, or his K-38?

I don't think anyone has said it yet, so I will. Are we talking about a natural disaster or some such where your renters/homeowners/property insurance reimburses you? If we are, would this insurance company pay you what those firearms cost now, or how much you paid for them? This is important because I came back to the states and bought my first couple pistols and rifles during the height of The Obama Panic. I didn't even realize I was paying too much until around mid summer 09. I was also buying from a gun store that I later found out charges a good 10% more. They have great customer service and are very friendly and helpful (which is largely why the wife and me bought from them back when neither of us knew a damn thing about firearms), but they charge a premium.

So to sum up, if the insurance paid me what I paid for them back then, I could buy everything again and probably come out a good grand ahead. Especially when you take the drop in ammo prices since then into account, that alone would save me probably $100 or so.

I would get everything all over again, with the exception of the wife's Walther P22.

I'd replace the basic categories I have here already.

SD/HD handgun - Browning HP to replace the rossi .38 and FEG 9mm
22 lr - probably a mossberg 44 or 144 to replace the mossberg 44
shotgun - either a mossberg 500a or remington 870
BP rifle - whatever I'm comfortable with... it's for hunting
centerfire rifle - either a savage or weatherby in .308 to replace the .30-06, .308, .30-30, etc. for hunting.

Depends on the company, for theft I got 1k coverage for anything else it’s replacement.

According to my agent they replace with the least expensive available, so if you claim 12 gauge pump you’ll get a Mossberg instead of the model 12 you lost.

I'd have to borrow something for a while. If my duty gun just up and disappeared, I'd be out a job and therefore have no money to buy guns.
