If you could have one shotgun, one pistol and one rifle, what would it be?

Saiga 12 -3 inch chamber....Redjacket /Tromix conversion.....High quality AK build with TechSights or an STG 58....sidearm?Torn between a six inch GP 100, SW model 627 pro,or .....TT33/M57.....I know,i'm a crude type.....

Pistol- LesBaer Professional
Shotgun- Remington 870
Rifle- Some sort of bolt gun chambered in 270

Only one of each??

I am going to 'fudge' the rules here, after reading all the above postings, and divide this into two basic groups- Only one shotgun, one pistol and one rifle for sport and or hunting usage-- Shotgun is my 12 Gauge L.C. Smith grade 3E- pistol is my Pre-WW11 Colt .22LR match target Woodsman, and rifle is my pre-1964 SuperGrade M70 in 30-06 with Zeiss scope--

Now, second group- ultimate Armaggedon weapons choices- One shotgun: 12 gauge Winchester M12 riot 20" cyl. barrel no magazine plug and loaded with OO buckshot- pistol is a Colt 1911-A1 .45 in the Combat Commander configuration with spare 7 rd. magazines and 185 Rem JHP loads- rifle is a NM star gauged barrel Springfield 1903 (NOT a 1903A) built up as a sniper rifle with Unertl 10X scope and any 30-06 ammo if need be- OW- 173 grain Lake City NM ammo-

I own all these weapons- the first group came to me from family-the second from my experiences both in military and civilian life--

All of the previous postings have been informative!!

It's always tough to cut it down like this, but if I had to chose just three:

  • Shotgun - Remington 870 Express with rifle sights - Classic, reliable pump. Useful for small game, large game and self-defence.
  • Pistol - Smith & Wesson 686 in .357 with 4-inch barrel - Again, classic and reliable good for defence against both 2- and 4-legged problems.
  • Rifle - Ruger Gunsite Scout Rifle with low-power scope - It may not be prefect, but it is at least adequate for eveything I want a rifle for.
Obviously, there are some compromises inherent in trying to address all the functions that firearms can perform in just three guns so none of these are really perfect for any specific task. They do, however, adequatly address all my precieved needs IMO.

This has been done to death, but what the heck...

- Remington 870 Wingmaster with 14, 18, and 26 inch barrels (yes, I'll pay for the tax stamp).
- S&W 686+, 3" barrel, pre-lock, pre-MIM.
- Marlin 1894 Cowboy in .357 with 20" octagonal barrel

Does what I need, has ammo commonality between rifle and pistol, and no magazines needed.

arrrrrgh these questions are so fun but so hard

while i'd love to fantasize about the 'ultimate zombie scenario' and all that stuff, but realistically, if this is just for me for fun and to just enjoy owning, it makes it a bit easier; ie not worrying about ultra reliability and torture testing and so forth

so;
shotgun - i'd really love a nice pump action, but seeing as how i'll purchase my first 12gauge pump for cheap anyway, i'd REALLY like a super nice over under. i'm talking with a really nice milled/carved (whatever the word is) metal frame and some sexy american wood

rifle - still researching brands and such, but basically a really top end ar-15 chambered in 5.56 with flip up iron sights and a nice optic, either red dot or(and) an acog

pistol - a nice custom 1911 in .45

...they will all be mine

It would be a very tough decision, but out of my collection I think I would end up with:

Shotgun - Mossberg 500, 20" removable choke barrel (and a 26" field barrel if multiple barrels are allowed under the "rules")

Handgun - GP-100, 4" barrel

Rifle - This is the toughest one, but I think that I would have to say my Marlin 336 in .30-30. But, a very very close second would be my Marlin 795 .22. Both are light and slim with quality iron sights (williams and tech-sight respectively, no optics to fog, break, hang up on stuff etc.), very packable. The 336 has the hand up in power, the 795 has the hand up in ammo packability.

If i could own...............

I myself own..............

1. Rem. 870 pump, .12 guage W/ weapon light...............

2. S.A. M1A SUPER MATCH in .308 W/ M2 BIPOD and scope for long range applications, looking for a SOCOM OR SQUAD SCOUT for close range applications..............(less ammo to fumble with when sticking to one caliber.)

3. SIG 229R in .40 S&W, with an additional .357 sig barrel, a .22 cal conversion kit. (one gun, 3 calibers), and a mounted streamlight weapons light......................

Love these games

I'm going to go mainstream, predictable, and "boring" because of the ubiquitous nature of these particular firearms and because I'm familiar with them:

Pistol: Glock 19

Rifle: AR-15

Shotgun: Mossberg...500?

Oh, I just can't resist these threads. Maybe because my answer is different every time I participate. Here is my "current" answer:

Shotgun: Remington 870 (with multiple barrels, chokes, stocks, accessories) - this answer never changes...

Handgun: Beretta 92FS - with a close runner-up being a Ruger SP101 for CC and hiking

Rifle: M-Forgery configuration AR-15 with .223/5.56 and 6.8SPC uppers, and piles of different optics, accessories, furniture, etc.

Oh what the heck,

Shotgun: Stoeger Uplander Special 12 ga. 3" double trigger
Rifle: CZ-550 Premium .270 win.
Pistol: Ruger Blackhawk 45 Colt 7.5" bbl

Already got the first two, been kickin' myself ever since I sold the last one...something to be said for stickin' with what you KNOW you can use effectively.
