If you could have only one 9mm

Walther P99 AS. It's the only 9mm I've shot that I can reach all the controls without significantly altering my grip. Yeah, I have tiny little ineffectual hands  . If I could grip them appropriately, it would probably be a Glock.

Colt Combat or Lightweight Commander in 9mm. Not one of those bushing-less Kimber or Springfield things; nor a SIG, S&W, or DW with an external extractor. A real Commander Model in 9mm please.

I forgot about the colt 1911 commander size 9mm. I love those things. Even if I owned one, I couldnt see myself shooting it. Such a beauty.

Glock 17. My first generation one has over 100,000 rounds through it since I bought it from another competition shooter. My new 3rd generation one is stronger. I can keep it running for a very long time with an Altoids can full of spare parts.

I would have to say the H&K USP Compact. I would also then have to give it some mods like Tru Glo Night Sights, Insight Technologies' M2 UTL Attachment, Slip over rubberized grips, and if possible a threaded barrel and a Knights Armament Suppressor. something like this...

but of course it would be in 9mm and with the light attachment like this one

I chose this weapon because I already have the full size (without supressor or threaded barrel) 45 model and I am very comfortable with it so would on assume that I would feel the same with the 9mm (though I am not one for 9mm) given the circumstance that this would be the only 9mm for the rest of my life.

After reading all the replies and thinking about it for a second....wow what a question.

ONLY one. FOREVER!!! Kind of reminds me of my wife.

CZ PCR. It is and has been my go to gun for a while now. I love my Glock 26 and have shot many 9mm but the PCR has a special place in my heart.

So Many choices

One gun... 9mm...

Sig 225 (P6)
S&W 5906
S&W 39-2
Beretta 92FS
Bulgarian Makarov
PA-63
Zastava (POS)

I like all of them (except the Zastava), but the best of the bunch is my Ruger SR-9. Now that it's retrofitted, it shoots like a dream... 18 times per rack.
In the famous words of Jackie Gleason... "How sweet it is....":neener:

"Smoothest" shooting... S&W 39-2 ... just not enough loud noises in the handle... the 92FS has high capacity, just not as "feel good" to shoot.

For reliability, the Makarov... after all, it was field tested by the KGB...:what:

I do just have one 92 fs inox but thinking about replacing my 642 with a small 9 if i could fine one that I can carry as easily as the 642

be safe

Well, for an inexpensive, always reliable and Tonka-truck tough gun.. I'd pick the 9mm I own right now. The Ruger P89. Not gonna win any contests for looks, not the lightest gun out there, and has a mediocre trigger feel.....but,it always goes bang with any ammo you put in it,and is combat accurate enough for protective duties.

FWIW:

Well, guess if this question had been asked a while back I'd have given a different opinion, but lately I've come to the conclusion that for an old fart like me I'd probably chose my 3rd generation S&W 6906.

I bought a new 3913 in 1995 and it has always been 100% reliable (my #1 requirement in a self defense firearm), and more than accurate enough for self defense. Recently I bought a NIB (CDNN) 6906 with a lifetime warranty for $399.99 because I found out it's the same pistol as my 3913 but in double stack. In the 3913 I was limited to 8+1, whereas in the 6906 I can use the standard 12 rd. magazine, or better yet I can use the larger capacity magazine of the 5906 (w/SW Grip+2 adapter) which is 15 rounds.

I have a Walther PPS, P99/AS, HK P7, had a Walther P99c/AS, P1, P5, Sig P239, Glock26, Browning HP, Bersa Thunder 9/UC, Taurus PT92, Star BM, KelTec P11 and probably some I have forgotten, but OVERALL I think for practical use IF I could only have one 9mm pistol I honestly believe the SW6906 would be the best choice.

For me the 6906 fits my smallish paws just right. It's built like a tank, (has a lifetime warranty to boot), I'm a lefty, so like the ambi-features, and it has a good compromise as to weight and capacity for cc. The 6906 is very easy to clean, I have absolute confidence in it's reliability, and it's certainly capable of greater accuracy than my old eyes are capable of taking advantage of.

I realize the 3rd generation S&W's aren't "cool", or whatever the term might be now, but from all I've read and personal experience they are fine firearms that are underrated, and under appreciated by almost everyone EXCEPT those folks who own them..:D

Just personal opinion, no offense to folks with contrary opinions.

Best Wishes,

Jesse

While I did go crazy and put an MMC rear sight on my 6906, what else can you really do with them besides shoot them? That's so boring! ;)

that AR-24 is a sweet 9mm, grip is ideal, accurate to a fault almost and reliable, the "K" model ( compact) is 13 rd and very nice ballance
