.22LR, 38/357, .30'06, 7.62x39, 12gauge 2-3/4 does it for me.
I can alternate the handgun caliber with 9mm and still be as happy as a surf clam at high tide.

and as a "bedside betsy" for "a thump in the night"; along with #3 above~!
