What would it be? I'm referring to a rifle for small game that you would bet your life on in a survival situation. One that is reliable and deadly accurate shot after shot.
Hard to say, since they all work fine. It'd be hard to beat the Browning BL-22 mentioned by Shawnee, if I had one, yup (and I plan to get one), or an Anshutz 54 sporter.
Among the ones I have, I guess either the CZ 452 or the Ishmash Biathlon Basic.
First pick for a .22lr would definitly be my Pump action 61 Winchester.
"But".....I lost it in a boat accident a few years back and have settled into a Romainian 69 Trainer, bolt action.
Not as fast with follow up shots, but then again, few are needed, as it is as accurate as my old Winchester.
My 452 is the best .22 I've ever shot. Even though it's a long rifle it feeds shorts w/o problems too. Amazing rifle in every respect. Everytime I take it hunting I feel like I'm cheating cause it's so darn accurate.
Oh thanks a lot! You take my favorite caliber of all time, and my favorite firearms and force me to select one. <<Kicks stones>>. Okay, after much reflection, I would say the Marlin 39A Golden. A second choice goes to the Savage Mark II. Third choice goes to the Henry Golden Boy lever action. Fourth place goes to the Marlin 981-T. Fifth place to the T/C R55 Classic or the T/C Contender. Sixth place goes to the Kimber Gov't model 82. Yes, it's heavy, but it's also dead-on accurate to 100 yards...easily.
Paaaaallllleeeeease. You expect me, to choose 1, single, solitary .22LR. I laugh.
Got a Ruger 10/22 and a Marlin 60. If I had to pick ONE to keep and use for hunting small game, it'd be the Marlin 60. I love the Ruger, because it was the first gun I learned to shoot when I was little, and it belonged to my dad. I'll never get rid of it, but I can shoot much smaller groups with the Marlin.
If I had to pick only one it would my greatgrandfathers Winchester mod. 1906 pump. My next pick would be my Westernfield mod. m842 bolt with a 3-6X15 Westernfield scope, it was my dads 16th birthday gift and he gave it to me on my 18th birthday.
I would say a savage bolt action. With a scope but leave the iron sights on it. that way if you bust up the scope you can take it off and still use the irons.
