If you could only have three guns...

Hey TimboKhan you said
awesome responses. Apparently I am the only one who would go with the .22 pistol!

I guess you did not read my 3 gun section. I know I put a lot in my post but this was there...
3 guns
S&W 35 22lr J frame
S&W 586 4" 357Now a S&W 19 4" or 13 3"
Marlin 1894c 357

Well, the .22 pistol is good for small game, but so is a shotgun, so most would rather have a more powerful sidearm for defense. Now, a silenced .22 is great for sentry removal, but most of us aren't ninjas... :D

My picks:

M1A
Mossy 590
Glock 17

I have two out of the three, and the third one is on layaway until May.

1) Springfield MilSpec 1911 in stainless, modified as I like it.
2) Saiga 12 Gauge
3) Springfield Armory M1A

I have 2 and 3.

1. Colt 1911 government issue w/ laser sight.... duty gun

2. Walther PPK... ccw

3. M16 full auto w/ grenade launcher... home defense

Nobody has to hunt, and if shtf, 12ga =too noisy

and inefficient. I picked a .22 pistol, specifically a pocketable size and wt model. If the woods are going to be full of desperate men with fighting rifles, I want no part of having nothing but a shotgun. No longarm is likely to be at hand when it's needed for home defense. The "only 3" limitation, and the need for a powerful defensive pistol ruled out the shotgun. In reality, I'd never bother to own one, anyway. I'd rather hunt small stuff with the pistol. Anyone can take birds or small game with a shotgun. Where's the challenge in that? Since all hunting is just for sport, why not have it be challenging?

already got em

sig p228 - cheap plentiful ammo that i can find anywhere in the world, a decent manstopper, certain stop if you practice hammers & light holds like i do

benelli m1 90 - everyone needs a shotty. with 3 chokes and 5 rnds, i can go hunting any time. i can shoot doves or i can slug a deer.

bushy xm15 shorty - bgs dont like to hang around when you have this. and like p228, .223 is plentiful and can be found anywhere. what good is it if you have a fn p90 when ammo is so hard to find?

too bad my xm got stolen last month =(

will probably replace with mini14 as this is the only decent rifle CA allows now.

M1 Garand - I like AR-15s, but the Garand's my all-time favorite rifle.
Springfield Mil-Spec with .22 conversion kit for practice, small game
M1A1 - for CQB, automobile use

That, my friend, is why I carry shuriken, or as you non-ninjas call them, "throwing stars"..... LOL

I guess you did not read my 3 gun section. I know I put a lot in my post but this was there...

haha, actually I didn't see that! Welcome to my world, friend!

One of each type of firearm:

-Bushmaster 16" dissipator carbine with "the works" (have)

-Izhmash Saiga-12, semi-automatic 12ga box-magazine fed shotgun with "the works" (have)

-Springfield 1911 TRP Operator w/ illuminator/las on rail (need)

Those would get me by for most situations. I suppose one can substitute the dissy for a battle rifle in .308 but it'd lose it's compactness unless I go for a SOCOM16 or a DSA OSW. Can we tape two firearms together and consider it "one"? :D

1) a bushy 223 carbine w/ aimpoint because of tactical and practical
2) sa 45acp operator because of home def and i love 1911a1s
3) hs precision 308 htr w/ leupold 8.5-25 mk4 because it will take down ANYTHING .........at 800 yards

Looks like I'm out in the hills too much.

Smith K-22 6"

Good for all manor of small game and grouse etc.

Browning 1886 carbine,

Nice combination of easy to carry, and good power, makes a good "summer gun" for large or small varmints.

Last would depend on where I eventually lite (Interior Alaska), and how tough the local varmints end up being. It would be one of either a 1903 Springfield sporter in 35 Whelen, or the Whitworth Mauser in 375 H&H. Both can be used scoped for hunting meat, or with good iron sights for summer use.

Any would be fine for defense (I find the odds of shooting small game to be much more likely, as I do it regularly, and have never had to draw on a person "in battle"). A Smith 44 or Ruger 45 Colt would be nice for town use, or when the hands are full out in the hills, but if limited to 3, that is my choice.

I guess I'm glad I live where armed combat is rare, and regular hunting guns seem to take care of our infrequent needs for defense from hostile humans. I didn't know so many folks lived in combat zones.

I saw the title and thought the BATF had put out another ruling!!!

Anyhow, my three:

Hk G-3/HK-91 (PSG-1, perhaps...)
ParaOrd 1911 P14
Ruger 10/22

I hunt with the CETME I have now, but would like the "nicer" version.

Got them already, too.

Garand
1911
Pump Shotgun (Mossberg reloadable claymore)

And the wife has her three....

Ruger .22 Gov't
LadySmith
Ruger 1022

And the dog has his three....

SKS
Mak
Colt Trooper III

And the goldfish has....

You get the picture!

I'd have a LOT more money. :D

1) Colt Series 70 1911 modified to my specifications. Too long a list

2) Remington 870 Wingmaster 12 ga. 18.5" w. 2 shot factory extension. 28" barrel for clay games

3) AR-15 of some sort. 20" barrel. ( I crave things I cant get)

That question is the stuff of nightmares. I'd have to say, among the guns I currently have, as much as it hurts to leave stuff out:

1. Saiga AK - .308
2. Rem 1100, or Saiga 12 - 12 ga
3. Winchester 69A - .22lr

If I could add, 4th would probably be my Taurus Raging Bull 5" in .454 casull/.45 colt, 5th AR15 .223, 6th CZ 75 9mm, 7th probably MAK90 7.62x39, 8th probably Kahr MK9 9mm, 9th probably CZ 452 varmint .22 mag, 10th probably Swiss K31 7.5x55, 11th Marlin 1895 .45-70, 12th Swede Mauser 6.5x55mm, 13th Howa 1500 .25-'06, ok that's enough. I *probably* wouldn't die from deprivation if I had those 13. :neener:

I like this question and it causes great anguish. I have taken quite some time to select the three rifles and four handguns and one shotgun that are in my collection, none of which I wish to part with. Picking just three to keep would, of course, depend on the purpose at hand.

Let's say it's for the fun of shooting and not CCW or especially home defense. Then, my choices would be:
M1
Marlin 1894C
Kimber Classic Custom I

Colt 1911
Remington 870
Bushmaster AR-15

What can you not do with these weapons? Covers all the territory. Concealed carry, home defense, hunting, long distance shooting. I miss anything?

Maurice

Anything?

"Pistol": M79 :evil:
Shotgun: Either a sawed-off something, or a Punt-gun (8-ft. long barrel, 2.5 inch bore, 1 lb of powder.....supposedly able to kill 400 ducks at once :what: :D )
Rifle: Sig 550--military version :neener:

1) A quality stainless .357 revolver with 4" barrel

2) A .22 rifle

And then the tough one.

Either

3) 12 gauge pump shotgun (E.g., 18" Rem 870) OR

3) AR-15 pattern carbine (e.g., Wilson Combat UT-15).

Could conceivably take both the 12 gauge and the AR-15, and then lose the .22 rifle, and use .223 from the carbine (or .38 Special from the revolver) for small game/practice.

But it'd be hard to let go of the .22 rifle.

Assuming ammunition is not ever an issue: (1) Remington Model 700 in 270 Win.; (2) Remington 541S 22 Rifle; (3) 6" S&W Model 57 Revolver. Add more guns and I go with a 22 revolver and a 12 ga pump shotgun.

bury ten

if limited to three, I'd probably bury ten in motor oil in pvc and my sleection would not be guns, but calibers...
