I have all three already

1. Sig P226. 9MM. 17 wonderfull rounds in each clip. Fun pistol to shoot. Works for a HD wepon. Very reliable.
2. Mossberg 500 12 gauge. Works for HD. Great Turkey gun. Also works for all upland game. Fun to shot. Very relifable.
3. Remington 700 Mountain Rifle. 30-06. Got to have a least one good long gun. Able to take most North American big game. Fun to shoot, very reliable.

If Only Three

1) Glock 20, in 10mm with a .40 and, a .22 conversion.

2) Browning Hi Power in .40 (with an extra barrel in 9mm). Self Defense, larger game (deer at close range). This choice I already do own.

3) FN FAL. Accurized and with optics. larger game, longer range (600 yard) targets, self defense if everything falls apart. I would change this to a SOCOM or an AK in .308 if I can find one that is accurate, and can use 20 round mags.

1. Marlin model 39 .22 rifle.
reason: survival / hunting. shoots .22 shorts or long rifles. Simple, reliable, accurate and well made rifle. Cheap ammo, easy to store a lot of it, great gun for small game hunting.

2. Bushmaster AR15 rifle.
reason: survival / hunting. 5.56 ammo for self defense or hunting of larger game. Very reliable gun with easy to obtain parts and ammo.

3. S & W model 629 .44 magnum
reason: self defense. Six shots from a .44 mag say more than a full magazine from a lot of other guns, especially if those shots hit their intended target.

I have an affinity for these guns. They felt special in my hands from the first day and I hit what I shoot at with them.

-----------------------------------
These are picks of guns I own. If I could choose from any guns in the world I'd
choose differently.

Remington 870 12-g (with multiple barrels)

Short 18" with adjustable rifle type sights but smooth bore
Longer 24" for fowl, small game, etc
Dedicated slug barrel with good adjustable iron sights
12-g because it the most popular and available

High-end FAL in 308 (set up for detactable scope)

Set up for detachable scope and possibly even a can
308 because it is widely available, even in military surplus and you
can take just about anything in North Ameriac with it.

Glock 23 or 22

Advantage Arms .22 conversion kit for same
9mm replacement upper (NATO round)

Survival: some type of drilling, 12/12/30-06, a 10-22, and a .357 revolver (5" Mod 27)

To make do with what I have now: My DW 709, Ithaca 37 with both barrels, and my Rem 572BDL.

I can dream: Winchester 71, Shiloh Sharps 1874 in .45-120, H&H double rifle in .375 flanged.

I can really dream: The AC-130U only has three guns.

A Marlin lever-action in .35 Remington
S&W Model 28 in .357 Mag
Glock 19 9MM

The rifle is in an odd chambering but, I like it for the dense cover I usually hunt in around home. Plus it really packs a wallop up close for social business. The Model 28 allows me to shot .357mag and .38spl which are probably the most common rounds in my neck of the woods. The Glock 19 allows me to shoot 9mm which is as common as the .38spl.

I've got 2 of them.

Springfield XD 40(Although rather have the .45ACP)

Remington 700 stainless/synthetic(still need a few mods to get it where I want it)

The one I still have yet to get is a tossup between a PO 14-45 LDA and a Beretta CX4 storm. Probably the storm, but I'd like it in .45ACP which they don't make. Only .45GAP.

These 3 have always served me well . . .

1) Browning BPS 3 1/2" 12 ga. pump. . . . Shoots everything from light 2 3/4" skeet loads to shoulder buster 3 1/2" magnum T's (for geese). Has a 28" bbl and I even get fair groups at about 75 yards with slugs.

2) Ruger P90 .45 ACP . . . . Looks and works like a tank. Fairly accurate as well.

3. Norinco SKS. . . . Versatile, fun, and cheap to shoot. (And - oh well - if I ever need option 4 it has a bayonet)

from what I currently own

1. 1911 w/ .22lr conversion kit
2. M4gery w/ TA-11F ACOG
3. 30-06 bolt w/ 3-9x40 scope

if you could only have three guns, what would you have, specifically?

For me, its a pretty simple set.

1. Ruger MkII bull barrel in stainless steel. I like the MkII a tad better than the new MkIII, I shoot the bull barrelled guns better, and stainless requires less care than blued. For small game, I would likely add a red-dot sight to it, but just that gun, stock, would do the trick just fine.

2. Remington 870 in 12g. Reliability, easy to find parts, easy to find shells for, will take down dove to goose.

3. Stainless 4 inch barrelled .357 mag revolver. Good for medium sized game, good for defense, reliable, easy to find shells for, easy to reload, generally accurate. less punishing that a .44mag

A few guns missed my list, such as a .22 rifle of some sort, or a bigger rifle of any sort, but if I had to pick just three, I think these would be it. Even in a survival situation (I actually keep my snubby .357 in my truck so if I have to go quick, its always there. God Bless my CCW) these would be my three.

First Battalion, Seventh Marines, 1990-1993

I am surprised to see that a Marine wouldn't include a battle rifle
in his three-gun arsenal. As a veteran of the 3rd Btn, 26th Marines,
my first gun would be my M-1 Garand. If I owned an AR-15 or an
M1A that might be my first choice. But I have the M1, all the
accessories, and enough clips to last a lifetime. And I know the rifle
can shoot straighter than I can aim out to 500 yards. That's all I
need to know.
My other two guns? My Colt Series 70 .45, and a Remington 870
12 guage. That's enough.

If you could only have three guns... Time to move.:D

If not.... SKS (I have a Yugo 59/66 A1), Ruger MkII (I have a Mk I) & a TC Encore.

Ruger Mark II

I have noticed a couple people mention the Ruger MkII as one they would have as one of their three and I have noticed alot of people mention them in other threads. I own one of these in stainless finish. I bought it because it was cool looking and was inexpensive for my partner to use for plinking. Am I missing something as to why this is such a nice weapon? :)

Now back to topic.
1. .45/70 Marlin 1895G
2. .357 Ruger GP100 6"
3. .22 Ruger Single Six

ruger 22/45 , take care of all the close up pistol work. saiga in 762.39 for maximun zombie killing, and a cz Long Range Rifle. guaranteed moa out to 1000 yards. that should do it.

Well, I insist on optimising my posibilities, so:

1) Spartan SPR 220 - 12guage w/ full set of Browning guage reducers.

2) Bushmaster Disipator A3 - 5.56 w/ 22lr & either 458 SOCOM or 50 Beowulf uppers
.
3) SA 1911A1 Mil Spec - 45acp w/ Kimber 22lr conversion kit.

If I were allowed a forth, it would be a Smith and Wesson 357. I could be content with those.

1. AR15 - want to shoot something else, change the upper, shoot .22, 9mm, .50 Beowfulf, etc.
2. Mossberg 500 or 590... probably 500, more practical for me
3. Some handgun... gosh that's hard to pick just one

How ironic - 3 guns:

A friend of mine in CA tells me that only one county in CA will issue a gun permit and he's lucky enough to live in that county.

However, he is only allowed 3 handguns on his permit. i.e. - the permit only covers 3 handguns and he has to identify them on his permit paperwork.

At least, that's what he told me.

I found your "3 guns" post ironic because he's trying to figure out that very issue, although in regard to 3 handguns.

He can own as many rifles and shotguns as he wants, but can't carry them loaded in his car (he tells me).

I'm glad I don't live in CA. The land where movie making liberals make millions from movies in which they promote irresponsible gun play and then have the nerve to by "anti-gun". If they're anti-gun, they should stop using guns in movies and profiting from them. Hipocrits. They're anti-gun because they assume that everyone is as irresponsible as they are and as what they portray.

That's definitely not true about only one county offering CCW. Most counties in California allow permits, given certain restrictions.

Anyway,

If only three guns, I'd want:

STI LS9 - Carry gun is most important to me.
870 - HD, Clay Games, Steel plate gun
AR-15 - For fun.
