If you own a Smith & Wesson Victory please help me is this a crack or a scratch?

I don't think it is a crack; there does not appear to be anything in the design or action of the part that would "crack" that little tab.

It looks (to me) like it might be a stamped part, which would be less likely to be cracked, more likely to be scratched or marked during stamping.

Whichever, the part looks replaceable with no degradation to the gun itself. I would say shoot it and enjoy but check it often, and send back to S&W if it shows any change or, of course, if it breaks off.

It's a STAMPING, not a casting.
Minor surface blemish.
Chute it!

BTW, Smith shouldn't have called it a Victory. Too confusing with the WWII lend lease revolver.

If it were my gun I would not rest until I got a "qualified opinion". These guys are great here but why not take it and just show it to a gun smith? Or, send a pic, they will NOT be confused, to S&W and get their diagnosis/recommendation in writing. THEY will not shy on the side of "maybe" but will replace the part if there is ANY doubt whatsoever. Then your mind can rest in peace.

Looks like a crack on my computer. Does it travel down either side? Or, is it just on top?
