I like SIG's.... 229 or 226.... Like them both.
The new Ruger SR's are a good alternative and costs less.

Lateck,

Pretty difficult because I have a lot of experience with all of these guns. I especially like the glock 22 and the USP (although my USP is a .45, and it isn't the tactical model). In my opinion, the USP is a higher quality gun, and it,s very easy to shoot well. The trigger is awesome, and I like the DA/SA options. The USP also seems to manage recoil better as well, but with all that said, I can buy two glocks for the cost of a USP.

If money isn't an issue, I would say go with te USP. Otherwise, go with the G22 and never look back.

I chose the Sig. All are good pieces, but as I'm not a fanboy of Glock, it was not even in the running, regardless of how good it may be.

"Friends don't let friends shoot Glocks! They buy them a Highpoint".

Again, best for what purpose?

Unless you answer that, this is just another useless popularity contest.

I voted for the 229. I have never fired a 229 chambered in .40 but have fired a 229 Elite in 9mm and it was a tack driver with very little felt recoil. Plus, it scores bonus points for good looks. I have fired the G-Lock 22, as recently as this weekend when a student's G22 had a fail to feed followed by a lot of difficulty clearing the jammed round that was laying sideways in the frame and locked solid.

One of the very few polls where Glock is actually pinned by another handgun. Good to see people are voting objectively rather than whats popular.

Orrrr its because the "leader" is the only non poly gun listed.

(I didnt vote)

G22 Gen 4. 9mm conversion barrels are plentiful. Parts are plentiful. Holsters are plentiful. Proven track record. No internet commando should leave the computer desk without one!
Good luck and stay safe,
Mike

There isn't really bad one among them and all would make good tools such as those are. I would pick Glock due to excellent customer support and availability of lightly used goodies (like spare mags, holsters,.....) in large cardboard boxes at LGSs or gun shows.

I have hear good things about the M&P in .40 S&W as well as the Glock 22. I would recommend the Glock as it seems to be the most tested gun on the list with regards to daily use because so many cops use it. Just my thoughts.

Okigunner. Thank you for the compliment.

As to another comment above, I intentionally didn't make the poll purpose specific because that would give advantage to some guns over the others with respect to size and NOT quality. This poll was more or less asking for better gun with respect to over all quality.

SIG owners are like Glock owners (just better :p). Once you get bitten by the bug, you can buy almost anything from their lineup and be happy. But in this case, the P229 really is their pièce de résistance. Anything by comparison is going to have tough competition.

I have the FNX 40, But in all what is the best 40?. Its the one YOU can handle the best, the one that YOUR the most accurate with, and the one that feels the best to YOU. And the one that is the most comfortable to YOU. (We all have our own choices) The weapon is a tool, its how you use that tool.

PX4 Storm. The initial barrel rotation takes a hair of "snap" out of the .40, IMO. Also has the simplest field strip I've ever seen. Comfy in the hand, too.

well the guns mentioned in the tow posts above are not in consideration. Kindly chose from the list.

Despite the Glock popularity, Sig Sauer wins this poll on specific gun question.
