Is anyone really dumb enough to fall for this

WTS: Special ammo, I paid 1.75 per round. "Ammo .223 DRT 79 Grain 20 Round Box "Dead Right There" Loaded in Military Brass"

HHHHHHHAAAAAAAAAA HAAAAAAAAAAAAA.......GASP.....HAAAAAAAAAAA HAAAAAAAAAAAAA

:D

LOL love the reviews, LOL. Actually if you look it up the same bullets are marketed as Barnes "Varmint Grenade." Some idea a powdered bullet held together by a thin layer of copper/what ever. Actually a awesome idea for soft targets but forget about shooting it through anything. They have videos of it completely disenegrading from just a cherry tomato. For coyotes I could think of no better bullet, but people, im sure a heavy coat would offer a good protection from it :).

Maybe the ammo isnt all BS, but its just Barnes bullets loaded in cheap 223 brass. And apparently pretty shotty at that.

That must go hand in hand with a 22 being better than a 45 because the .22 will bounce around inside the bg

From a customer review on cheaperthandirt.com:

"Compared this ammo along with Black Hill's MK262 over the weekend out of a LWRC M6A2 14.5". Gropings were about the same at 100 and 200 yrds."

He needs to keep both hands on the stock.

A guy that use to work with me showed me that ad over the summer. He thought it was the neatest stuff since sliced bread, and sincerely believed that it would kill someone instantly. Of course, this was the same guy that swore a buddy of his handloaded rounds for his .44mag. with solid steel bullets that he turned down on a lathe and then had case hardened. Not exactly the sharpest spoon in the drawer.

As reported by CTD:..."making it ideal for crowd control, home defense, or close quarter combat; killing them instantly"....

Best way yet to control a crowd, just kill everyone instantly.

I wonder if Cheaper Than Dirt gives you a sign when you buy these?

"Here's your sign"

LOL on the last two posts.

Here's your Sign

Not for oral use.

Too funny gents....

ETA: Go check out the Varmint Grenade videos on YouTube. Wicked. Might have to grab a box of those and load 'em up. Maybe I can kill a small melon. 8^Þ

" . . . hush-hush for four years . . ."
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
Frangible ammo has been around for at LEAST three decades!

Too funny! Someone will buy it, though, probably the same bunch of folks who buy the Ginzu knives off the TV ads.

Geez, I hate to say this, but there is the slightest possibility that it may be legit. Future Weapons had an episode where they showcased a "revolutionary" new type of ammo that did precisely what DRT is claiming, and they tested. The claim was that the round would stay structurally intact while hitting hard objects and that it would penetrate steel. However, once it hit soft material, such as flesh, it changed to powder (?) dumping all the energy into the flesh and keeping any solid material from going all the way through.

They then demonstrated it by shooting a steel plate which the round did, in fact, penetrate completely. Then they shot the round at a roast-sized uncooked hunk of meat, and sure enough it caused the roast to balloon several times it's original size when struck and it was completely shredded...nothing from the original projectile came out the other side.

I have tried finding that clip of Future Weapons on youtube but haven't been able to locate it. I wanted to see if it is the same company or not.

Does anyone else remember seeing this?

Of course, this was the same guy that swore a buddy of his handloaded rounds for his .44mag. with solid steel bullets that he turned down on a lathe and then had case hardened.

Why is that hard to believe? That is how Barrett manufactures their new .416 round. Not sure about the case-hardening part, but they do machine down solid pieces of metal to make the rounds instead of casting them.

Hold it. Doesn't any centerfire pretty much destroy a cantaloupe?

Rimfire too. A .17HMR will make a nice mess of a cantaloupe.

im sure a heavy coat would offer a good protection from it

Should still sting a bit though. It IS a .223 after all.

I think if you really wanted to make and effective killer bullter it should be filled with a highly reactive alkali metal such as Potassuim or Cesium. Make it a hollowpoint with the alkali well sealed within the lead core. Then just sit back and watch the BGs and Zombies EXPLODE when you shoot them.

When it contacts the organic target, the powder is spinning at such a high rate it instantly disperses, resulting in Instant Death.

Instant BUNK if you ask me. The only thing that I know of that will cause instant death, is a heart or brain shot. Even then, instant death may not occur. Someone is pipe dreaming here....

TRGRHPY,

The turning on a lathe doesn't bother me. It's the case hardening bit that I thought was funny. The guy was always awe struck when he talked about it.

IF i had a gun to shoot it in, i would buy ONE box. but since my handi rifle has such a slow twist rate, it will not stabilize a bullet that heavy. from what i have read about it, it works very well.
