Is RIA the default for bang for the buck 1911s?

To me, a 1911 should be made in the states, Auto Ordnance makes good 1911s here in the US under Kahr Arms, Had a GI model that worked with hollow points and FMJ, great guns and the price point hits right at the rock island line, however I will admit RIA has much more variety.
 
My Sig 1911 was made in the USA. ;)


I got to handle Auto Ordnance 1911 after Kahr bought them. What a difference compared to ones I handled in the 90s. The fit and finish was much better than RIA 1911s.
 
Too darn pretty to keep, I really liked to stare (lol) at my RIA-made Cimarron. Much more polished than the pic reveals.

My Taurus PT-1911 (Talo) was absolutely the smoothest firing 1911 I have ever experienced. Like it was on bearings. Never understood that.
