Is the SCAR Ugly?

I don't think is ugly at all. It is a very utilitarian piece that's true. I mean the M4 (or 4-gery) with all those tacticool accessories is as ugly as a gun can get...same is true for an M14 style rifle with all the wacky stuff on it...now that's ugly! At least the SCAR starts out with all the rails and stuff it needs built in.
As for the color. I kind of like the desert tan, coyote, dark earth thing in general but I don't think FN has executed it very well on the SCAR...too yellow.
I think a muted gray, not too blue, maybe a little green would be a better color or an improved coyote color...darker, browner, and greener.

Yes, it's very ugly. Like the Glock, M-2 Browning, Hughes chain gun, AK, and MG-42 are ugly. It is my sincere hope that our enemies start to place emphasis on form over function.

It seems to me like the firearms designed in the past had both function and aesthetics, but that new firearms only have function. As a civilian I'd like to have both, so yes I consider the SCAR to be ugly.

Just as ugly as anything that is not a Win M70 deluxe.

Nah, those are pretty nice.
The collapsible stock rigs for the M14 are the chintziest thing the US military has handed out to troops since the Grease Gun, though -- they actually look like the might have shared a common designer . . .

We are going to have to write this down...H2O did you read the entire post above (or did HS edit)? For some odd reason I was under the impression that you liked the "chintzy" EBR stocks.

Wow, that's an old you picture you have there.
It's interesting that you saw fit to save a picture of such ugly guns, do you have more that you can share?

It ain't a beauty contest for me, it's function over fashion.

I have never posted in "ugly gun" thread because I don't actually own one. I have never thought the Glocks were as ugly as a lot of people do...it is so simple and mine is a gen2 without that light rail...oh how I hate light rails on handguns. I have a M&P 9c with a light rail...comes no other way! When I think how sleak the front of that gun could look...it makes me sort of sad.
I can post some more. I don't have many uploaded to where I can get at them and post 'em here. I do that one at a time having just learned how to post a picture properly.
