Is this the CZ Model that so many posters like?

This is the ambidextrous version of the CZ 75. There is not difference other than that. Oh, and it says "85" on the side instead of "75".

It also comes stock with adjustable rear sights, dual safeties and slide locks and no firing pin block. This price is good and the pistol "looks" little used. The seller is including one extra 10rd mag.

It's a good gun at a good price.

It looks like it might be a 85 combat. I don't see the roll pin in the slide for the firing pin. The shipping is high but if you can get the gun for $350 it would be good. Mark

Why do I ask?

For now I am just window shopping,

But I was curious if like the 870's there were "Express" models and "Wingmasters" and if like the Mossbergs there were "Mavericks" and "590A1's"?

19994 CZ85 Pre-B. Magnum Research import from years ago.

Should be a solid shooter, especially for a lefty!

You just don't find guns like this one anymore.

With the price increase for anything Pre-B in the
last couple of years.

I think the gun is worth every penny he is asking for.

The 85 is a great pistol; not as common as the 75 and the ambidexterous safety is a plus for some shooters.

Haifisch,
We know you hate them and you are entitled to your opinion but give us the details. Where did they go wrong for you?

my CZ-75 was made in 1982. it's had over 13,000 rounds through it---and it's never jammed. it's more reliable than my glock 19 ;)

my CZ75B 40cal has about 3,000 rounds through it--and no jams either :)

Yep. Great pistol. Good price.

Not bad for $350.00; if it goes above that, I'd pass. Several hundred rounds through it. You can get a new CZ for $550 or so.

This particular CZ 85 is a Pre-b but it is also what is called a transitional model making it somewhat more desirable to a collector. It has almost all of the features of the newer "b" series without the firing pin block.

I have never had a bad experience with a CZ 75 model pistol. Also, my CZ 82 is a tack driver. My newest love is my new P-01. I think Haifisch just got a lemon or something. It happens. I don't hear many people bashing CZs.

Yep, it should have had a yellow polycoat finish. :barf:

I am curious to know if anyone else here feels the same way as Haifisch. I've never really come across a CZ hater before.

I have owned a 75B and PCR for over ten years and they have been flawless. Accurate, reliable, good ergos and solidly built. I have nothiong but good things to say. My next firearms purchase will be a 97B.

Let me just say... JAM-O-MATIC.

That was after a 500 round break in.

What model of CZ, what caliber and what ammunition used?

The 9mm CZs in all models tend to be very forgiving on ammunition. If you were having jamming issues with a 9mm CZ it was either an ammo issue, you were using promags, or you got a bad gun that needed to be sent back to the factory.

The .40 cal ones based on the -75 frame, but not actual -75s can be finicky feeders due to the lack of significant barrel tilt. The -40P in particular can be a nasty bitty about getting rounds stuck halfway into the chamber. The P-07s in .40 are much improved because of the tiling barrel and I've never seen one go tits up on the range.

The -97Bs can be very picky on non-FMJ rounds because most to the JHPs don't taper fast enough and won't seat all the way into the chamber without being forced into the rifling. Also, there was a batch of bad Mec-Gar mags that had a habit of spitting the last round out the top of the magazine... haven't seen one of those in a while though.

Now, if you had a CZ-100B, particularly in .40, then yeah... you had a piece of junk.

BTW, CZ-75s sometimes also have the -85 style ambi-safety. The CZ-75 .40 S&W has it, so does a 2008 stainless CZ-75B that I have.

That's because there are not many. Haifisch must have gotten a bad one. I've not heard many with issues even on the CZ forum. I have a 75B that's one sweet shooting gun. Any gun can and will jam given the right conditions. I sold my PCR because I just didn't shoot it that much. I'd reach for the 75B instead. I've only heard one other issue and that was a RAMI in .40S&W. It would not feed certain brands of JHP, others worked fine.
