Is this the CZ Model that so many posters like?

There is always going to be the rare lemon. In the world of bersa thunder .380s, for example, I am the Bersa forum's haifisch; I had one that was a POS. To search the Internet, though, one would think that I was the only guy alive to have a bad experience.

In all, the CZ owners (and even a lot of non-owners) are pretty fond of the marque.

Question: if limited to only one CZ (in 9mm), which should it be? 75/85? PCR/P-01?

It depends on what you want to use it for. Home defense? 75/85 and the 85 only gives you ambi controls which, unless you are a leftie are superfluous.

For carry and HD/SD? PCR hands down. The P-01 is bulkier as it has a light rail.

The P-07 Duty is IMHO the best of the CZ line currently available. It's the same size as the PCR, so it's a compact class firearm, but it still has a 16 round magazine. It comes with the decocker set up from the factory, but has the safety included and switching set-ups is literally on a matter of minutes... so you have it either way.

An excellent all around CZ.

I have to disagree with Pilot when it comes to HD. I feel that the P-01 has an advantage over the PCR because of the light rail. Statistics have shown (I know, statistics = blah) that most home invasions, attempted burglary, etc. happen at night. IMO any home defense firearm should be capable of having a light on it. I know you can use a flashlight with your weakside hand....but there are few better things for identifying a target than a rail mounted light.

carrywise though, PCR wins over P01

Its like the guy that says xyz car is a crappy model, they had one and the breaks wear out to fast, or something similar........ Then you find out that this happens with all their cars.....& they drive with both feet & ride the breaks....

SAME THING. If everything you own, is crappy & malfunctions....it might be the operator.

There is one model of CZs to avoid:

The CZ-100. The newer poly framed gun is doing much better. Get it instead.

I keep hearing the PCR is better for carry, but I dunno, does it make that much difference over the P01? I kinda like the ability to clip my light onto it at night....

Yet I keep hearing that over and over, I find the P01 fine, but is the PCR that much more comfy?

Count me in. I have one of the 1996-marked Turkish-contract-overrun 75B Military models. No problems so far.

Don't get gunscrubber on the $5 plastic grips, it will dissolve them on contact. Makes a gooey, stringy mess. I put smooth Hogue cocobolos on mine.

I have two of them on my "gotta have" list.

SP-01
P-01

I've had a couple of the Tanfoglio clones and I love them too.

If I bought one, it would probably be one of the stainless CZ-75's with night sights or a nickel CZ83 in 9x18. Aside from that, most of the CZ models just don't excite me though, especially the plain jane ones.

I fired one this past weekend that looked like it hadn't been cleaned once in its lifetime and it still went bang went every time and was as plenty accurate. I'm so close to owning my first CZ-75B I can almost smell the burnt gunpowder...

Dimensionally, (L/H/W) they are the same size. You're talking about 1 to 2oz. more weight for the P01. Probably the little extra mass on the frame, for the light rail.

If you want the P01 for the light rail, get it.....Some people are absolute drama queens about 1oz and 1/16 of an in......Get what you want and to hell with what everyone else says. ;)

I thought you were out?......LOL

May I suggest you steer clear of the chummed water or you may get hooked. :)

I love my 85 Combat. Of course I'm a lefty. Had to change out the plastic grips and phillips grip screws though.

That's a sweet looking CZ. The magazine looks like it doesn't fit flush like it should. Never seen one do that before. ???

I am curious to know if anyone else here feels the same way as Haifisch. I've never really come across a CZ hater before.

I had about 70 or 80 CZ pistols over the years. All have been fine shooters.

I'd say I'm a CZ lover.

Best regards.

Wow! Now that is a testament to CZ's quality! I currently own 2 short rail Pre-Bs, a CZ-82, and I just picked up a P-01. All of them are awesome. Of course I plan to own more eventually. lol

converted cz hater

My first CZ (75 bd) was a total piece of crap (I bought it nib). The new ones I handle in the store seem to be just as bad. A friend let me shoot his well worn cz75. I loved it. I now have 2 cz75 s. I bought both used. The more they are broken in the better they get. Accuracy tightens up, the action gets smoother, the trigger gets lighter, once the magazine brake is "adjusted" I can see why they are very popular.
