It doesn't look promising for H.R. 6691.

She described a common motorcade attack plan, in which small arms are used to take out security personnel, bringing the motorcade to a stop, after which explosives can be used against the car carrying the VIP. Loosening DC’s gun laws, she implied, would make this attack more likely.

"I think Mark Twain said it best: "Suppose you were an idiot. Or suppose you were a Congressman. But I repeat myself."

I just felt like these two quotes belonged together.:D

When the people fear their government, there is tyranny; when the government fears the people, there is liberty.
Thomas Jefferson

Seems to me both fear the other, what does THAT equal I wonder?

And another one from Mark Twain,

"It could probably be shown by facts and figures that there is no distinctly American criminal class except Congress"

And some people think consideration of over-throwing the government is outrageous... The way the politicos discount the laws of the people, and by the people to suit their whims is what is really outrageous beyond words. These people such as the DC Police Chief are criminals and should be in jail...

How come politicians are suddenly "worried" about how hard the jobs of policemen are? A policeman's job would be even easier if they didn't have to worry about probable cause, or Miranda rights, or any civil rights in general. Instead of having the "hard job" of protecting Ku Klux Klan memebers staging a street parade, the government could just ban any street demonstrations. When it is a question of certain rights the particular politcians favor, they don't even mention the burden on the police. When it is about the rights of citizens concerning the ownership of guns, suddenly, It's just too hard on the Police!!! I will tell you a secret, and it is only a secret to people who don't believe in gun rights: The BATFE CAN'T enforce all the laws they are responsible for. If you want to make it easier on the BATFE, reduce gun control laws.

Watching movies again huh?

there would be much easier means besides those that use small arms fire. and trust me the motorcade would never stop even if you took out half of the people in it. it would just burn through anything in its way to the closest secure location while calling in back up from ever available source even remotely close to them.

+1 Elza.

She isn't insane, just saying anything to keep law abiding citizens from owning firearms. That's her true motive as is the case with most leaders of police departments in big cities.

No, she isn't insane or stupid. Much worse, she favors police states where only the military and police are allowed to own firearms IMHO.

In the cesspool known as Detroit, the corrupt Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick joined up with rabid anti-gun Mayor Bloomberg for years. Big city mayors are rabidly anti-gun also alot of times.

Kilpatrick used the buzzwords you hear from Chief Lanier but his true motive was to disarm the law abiding populace. He favored police states also IMHO.

Kilpatrick is out of office, he pled guilty to two felonies.

It's funny how we seem to hear much more about corruption in those areas run by leaders who believe in police states isn't it? ;)

The motorcade would just keep going. I know first hand I have family members in the USSS who are on detail with the President and the candidates. No matter the death toll...they would just keep driving right on to a safe place.

Are people to stupid to realize that you take guns away from law abiding citizens and the only ones with guns are the bad guys? i dont want this to come off wrong...but guns are easy to come by Illegally. In honesty if I wanted a 'hot" or "black market" gun...i could have one in 2 days by making 1 phone call.

have they also considered the impact that this would make on the economy? How much money is brought in by gun sales/ammo sales/ training/ ranges/ and other things a year? how many people would be out job if they actually did..."ban guns?"

Joe
